    Hi,

We used to attend the Montessori Playgroup @ Auchenflower last year.

I didn't keep going because I couldn't justify the expense $15 per week.

It is very good if you aren't looking to spend to much time socialising yourself. There isn't any chats over a cup of tea & cake for the parents like other playgroups.

The "playgroup" is really following and assisting your child to select different activities that they are interested in doing. Your child leads you & you follow them around the room, teaching them to select things, undertake the activity, then return the item.

I found after 10 weeks and not much change in the toys / activities it was enough.

The children only seem to socialise together if they happen to have morning tea at the same time or sit at the same table as another child, whilst undertaking an activity. I wanted my child to have mor interaction with other children. At about 10mins before finishing they do have a story and nursery rhymes.

So all in all, a good experience for the time I was there but I was just looking for more of a social atmosphere for myself as well as my ds.

    Good luck trying it out!

    Hi,
Thanks for your feedback....it is very helpful!

Have you found a good playgroup to go to now, because I am really trying to find one for my 18month old boy?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

No, we haven't joined a playgroup this year.

DS is at daycare on Monday & Tuesday while I work.

I have started personal training 3 times a week in the mornings when most playgroups are on. DS goes to the childminding at the gym on these mornings for an hour, so ds is getting some social interaction there also.

We also go to Kindyroo at Stafford on Wednesdays where DS gets to climb over ladders, jump on trampolines, play instruments and have a really good time for 45mins. DS is exhausted after these classes.

See www.kindyroo.com.au if you want to know more. We love it!!

So we are pretty busy even without playgroup. I even try to swing in sometimes a trip to the Newmarket Pool on Thursdays for a couple of hours, DS loves the water slides.

A previous playgroup that I found really good is Possums Playgroup, Kennedy Terrace, Paddington, they meet on Wednesdays. You can find contact details on the Playgroup Queensland Website.

This playgroup is great they do craft activities with the kids, have an outing somewhere once a month eg. fire station or animal nursery, great morning teas & social atmosphere, they have good play equipment in the hall, sing songs and have Xmas Parties for the group with Santa.

I hope you are able to find somewhere!

Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. We already go to KindyRoo at Stafford and it is great! Thanks for suggesting that playgroup, it sounds great. Unfortunately not on a very good day for us but I may be able to try it at some stage. Thanks again
