dumb question but all suggestions gratefully received!!

Anyone got any suggestions for helping older baby sleep in pram.?

Its motivated by selfish reasons.. but I'd love to be able to put my ds in his pram when we are out and about and know he will have a little nap. He has only stopped falling asleep in pram in the last 2-3 months.

It would be helpful when we need to be out at his sleep time (and when he is due for a sleep he is soo cross- well mostly anyway).

He doens't ahve a dummy or a bottle or anything like that- he has a sunshade over pram but he just kicks at it when I try to get him to sleep.

Sorry for wasting your time.. but it would really help me out.

I say good luck! DD1 won't sleep when out anymore...on the rare chance that she will fall asleep it's only for an hour max. (she sleeps for 2 or 3 at home.) The only way she does fall asleep when out is if we have absolutely exhausted her.

Maybe try and go to a mothers room or quiet section where theres less distractions, put a blanket over the pram, rocking it till he nods off?

DOes he self settle at home? Most of mine only slept in the pram hmm well for half hour LOL and that was only if i was walking or if i put them in the pram from the car asleep. I remember that dd3 wasnt too bad though as i was always walking everywhere she soon learnt to just sleep which was great but the others i was constantly in and out the car, walking etc school drop offs their routine was a mess.

Maybe try going for a walk when his naps due each day, and see if this can get him used to settling in the pram?

Hmm, well I can just tell you how I do it?

The important things seem to be:
- having a comfy pram to sleep in, sleeping bag for little one, make sure they are warm enough and fed!
- having it dark enough to block out distractions - I have a black Valco suncover for teh stroller that blocks a lot of light out
- getting the timing right: not waiting till they are too tired
- keeping moving till they are off to sleep (preferably walking around, not sitting rocking)

This is what I have done since my DS was young. He didn't sleep weel for teh first few months but once we were in a routine at home he would sleep in the pram when out. Mostly he will only sleep the first 45 minutes unless really tired when he will go to 1-1.5 hours.
