Default Good exercise equipment for home

With our unpredictable weather and heavy down pours, i am finding it hard to get out for a good walk esp. having a young bub in a pram - so i have been thinking towards getting some equipment for home.

I did once have an exercise bike - but grew bored with it and it just collected dust

What do people have and do you use it often? (eg treadmill, weights)

I bought a cheap crappy exercise bike.. i could never get into it either. It became a dust gatherer too!

I got a tredmil through a rent to buy thing. I find it easier to keep motivated wtih that.. just get out the ipod and go for a walk.

Go for something nice and quiet so you can watch the TV or something at the same time - some treadmills are heaps loud.....spesh when you run on them.....

My parents have this airwalk thing which is pretty cool but it really doesn't feel like you are doing much!

I want a treadmill.. generally thats the sort of thing I'd actually want to do more often.
Have a bike here, dust gatherer as well.

Had an airwalker ages ago, wonderful things! I loved it.. bugger tho with very young curious kid at the time, but thats really a complication with all equipment

I'm just going to hop right in and brag about elliptical machines, and I don't even own one yet.

    Benefits of an elliptical machine:
    (Good ol' google).
    • Reduces stress on the joints of the lower body.
    • Promotes cell growth in the bones of the lower body and spine thus helping ward off the debilitating effects of osteoporosis.
    • Results in a cardiovascular efficiency that produces an equivalent training effect as other forms of exercise, but over a shorter period of time.
    • Elliptical trainers can get your heart rate up quickly and keep you in good cardiovascular condition.
    • Elliptical cross trainers burn more calories and make you feel like you have been on a brisk walk with all the benefits of a good jogging session.
    • It's ideal for losing weight because it burns more calories then a treadmill or exercise bike. If you are overweight it helps you burn calories while you seem to be leisurely gliding along.
    *Anticipates her ellipticals arrival*
