Default A bit of a scary time.

    Hi all

Our dd2 now 4mths old is going in to hospital on tues for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy..... me feeling pretty nervous.

I do hope though that we get some answers as to why she is in pain and why she is leaking protein from her bowel.

Fingers crossed it all goes well.

She has to have anesthetic.. how scary although it must be reasonably safe or they wouldn't do it I guess.

    hmmmm

I can imagine how you feel.

Our DD had an endoscopy at 4 mths and it was a very stressful time for us also.

I really think that she coped much better with it than I did though. I was so worried for her, but she was fine, she hardly even knew anything had happened. After the procedure she woke up in recovery with me holding her hand, I then gave her a good feed (she was starving), she had a sleep on me for about 40 mins and when she woke up again, was her normal somewhat happy self (she was never really happy in those days).

Anaesthetics nowdays are really safe. I used to work in theatre and the meds are given to match bubs weight and they are so closely monitored that complications are really really rare.

Hope all goes well on Tues and you get some answers. We will be thinking of you and will have .

    All the best.

    Hi all

Well we all survived the endoscope and sygmoid colonoscopy.

DD2 handled it really well and she was first on the list so that made things alot easier.

As far as results are concerned.. her eosophagus was clear so no scarring or obvious signs of reflux issues. (mind you she is on 40mg a day of losec)
Her duodenum was also clear. Her stomach lining showed a small amount of EE.
Bowel wise there was a small amount of inflammation but no major issues.
All the biopsies were good too. The bowel biopsy showed some non specific inflammation but that was about all.
GI is putting all her issues to date down to a severe protein intolerance which seems to be on the mend.
There seems to be no obvious reasons why she can't take her bottle orally so I am thinking when we go back to the pead this week we will start tackling the behavioual issue..

Apparently we need no further action with the GI unless things get worse or don't fix themselves I assume.

Next thing to tackle is getting rid of the ng tube and starting her on solids.... these two things are going to be horrid!

    Thanks for reading

    Hi Kylie,
YAY for little miss! Although it must be a little dissapointing aswell with no real answers.

Good luck with the "bahavioural issues", I hope thats all it is!

its been a tough beginning for your dd.

Hopefully on the road to mend!

Well at least you know there are not any serious internal issues.... Which is great news hun....

Good luck with the oral feeding.... hopefully with a lot of patience and perseverance (which no doubt you have copious amounts of already) things will go 'both' of your way....
