Question Moving house.. Where to start ?

Well its official.. we are moving in 2 weeks
Now where do i start with this place? packing.. cleaning.. i know i have done it many times before.. but now i have the 3 kids, and dp is working quite a bit
i dont want to leave it til the last minute...
i loathe cleaning the oven, so i guess that will be the last thing on my to-do list..
just curious to see how you all go about "moving"

I just take it one room at a time. Pack everything that you dont need before you move, leave anything else.
Moving sucks.... I hope the transition goes quickly and easily for you.

    Default same boat

hi jem, on a bright note for you, you have company in the moving boat, so pass an oar over hear, and we can both help eachother! lols we just sold our house last week, and finally signed a contract on one last night to purchase, and now we only have 3 weeks to move! at the mo, i have 2 DD and number 3 on the way, so am not looking forward to it at all! today is going to be the day that i start packing, and the way ive "worked" things out is one room at a time! its going to take agesssssssssss, as i work nearly full time as well ! ( sigh! the things i punish myself with!) anyhows hopefully we can guide or probe eachother on this horrible task, but then again we can throw some things out cant we????

Im in the early stages too. We are still looking for a place and are having to go through the nightmare of waiting for appilcations.

I am also wondering where to start after that. I have a dislocated knee in a cast, and a very clingy 10month old whos teething...... hmmm, i guess one step at a time.

Now is a good time to go through all the stuff you dont need and get rid of it!

    Good luck

It's pricey but it's well worth it - Get the removalist to pack for you!

They do it the day before your furniture gets moved.

I did it because I had 2 young kids so considering you have 3 I'd really think about it.

In the price they also provide all the boxes and they do pack it really really well.

Nothing was broken for us (in the boxes anyway - when they packed the truck they decided to use our computer desk as a storage area and packed it with boxes and the storage area of the desk broke - so claimed it on insurance.)

I would strongly advice you take out insurance and also mechanical insurance (which covers things like the electrical/mechanical working of tv/washing machine.)

PM if you want me to provide further information as I have just moved interstate and did it all without DH help so I had to make sure everything was covered.

I am in the process of moving too. Every time I bend and lift too much I get little contractions. I am playing on it a bit too because I am lazy and I hate moving (shh, don't tell).

DP took the big stuff in the weekend, on the trailer and he is doing another load in the weekend. I am packing up all the little stuff and chucking ALOT of stuff out as I go.

I hate moving but I am glad to be moving out of my granny flat and in with DP. That's the only highlight.
