    Default eczema flare up

I'm having terrible trouble with my eczema. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have been like this since week 6. I'm going crazy with it

I usually calm down a flare up with elocon but I can't use this in pregnancy. My doctor has said to stick with sigmacourt, which doesn't really do anything. I've tried sorbalene, ucerine, dermavate (oil, bath powder and cream), 2 different aromababy creams (barrier cream and moisturising cream) so far nothing has made much of a difference. I am about to try some rosehip oil...fingers crossed.

I'd be grateful for thoughts from anyone who has fought (and hopefully won,,, ) this battle.

    Cheers
    Ann

Ok - i dont know if this will help - when i was in Hawaii i found this nut called Kokui nut - the oil is great for all skin stuff - esp psoriasis and excema - so i brought som home for fiance's brother - apparently it worked really well!- i have seen it in Australia - but i cant remember where! maybe it was a a pharmacy or organic makeup/beauty shop in Port Douglas.

I also hear Macadamia nut oil could be good.

    Hello,

I suffered from this as a baby then grew out of it but ever since being pregnant I have had a little of it back!

I have found a little bit of quarterzone cream - not alot! helped me.

Hope it starts to get better soon for you.

    Hi Lottismum,

I had eczema all through my pregnancy too and suffered quite badly at times. I use elocon as well, and thought that I couldn't use it during pg, but my GP told me that the tiny amoun that enters the bloodstream through the skin and then actually manages to cross the placenta wouldn't be near enough to hurt the baby. I guess you've got to do what feels right for you, but I used elocon throughout my pg (very sparingly, and only when I absolutely had to or I'd go mad), and bubs is fine!

Good luck, hope you find some relief!

PS If all else fails, and you don't want to use elocon - Pinetarsol bath solution is fantastic - stinks to high heaven, but really relieves the itch!
