Keeping own name - a problem with kids at school?

Thanks for your feedback, folks! I usually don't take much notice of people making such comments but, you know, when they start saying it'll affect your kids, etc, I do a double-take....then ignore them. But still, a double-take.

My mum married again when I was seven, and I kept my father's name. It didn't really bother me. Except when I was referred to by Mum's new married name. I didn't like that. It did bother my stepfather when he was called by my surname too.
