Usually they will only let you have 1 person go in with you. But just ask the Dr and they will soon let you know.
    Good luck.

I asked for my sister to come in with me as well as my partner and they said no, but I was allowed to have the nurse take a family shot after bubs was born. That was nice.

    Default Hi Sueemp

It would be worth asking your OB if you could have a second support person with you. It is your caesarian birth after all and it is important that you feel you have all the support you need.

If the answer is no, ask what the reason is. Also ask who else will be there.
Quite often students are permitted in theatre - if students can be there, then surely your MIL could be there? Or your MIL could be there IN PLACE of any students. Does that make sense?

It is your experience after all so I think they would have to give a pretty good reason for a no.

This isn't so much related to your question, but here is a link to a birth story where a mum did all she could to create the best possible caesarian experience.

(Just out of curiosity - is this an elective c/s or has your OB advised you to have another c/s?)

    PS....

Here is another link - same lady and story but it has some photos and a link where you can download and read her birth plan...she has two support people mentioned in her birth plan, so that's good news! Must be possible!

thanks every one for your responses. replying to you tracie about my decision, i am only about 8 weeks preg and have to start with an ob soon as i have epilepsy its considered a high risk preg so until now i have only seen my gp. but i am choosing a caeser almost prob,as nothing worked last time. my waters leaked out (did not break) after 4 days of being told i was wetting myself they decided to induce me. i was on the most drugs they could give anyone (at 6foot 3 i guess i need abit more) and i was having contractions every minute for hours and not dilateing after 10 hours of contactions every min i dilated 1-2 cm so they advised me to have caeser which i did. i dont know maybe my body is not designed to deliver babies. also i had a bad infection in my uterus once before requireing hospitalisation which causes a lot of scarring , maybe that gets in the way.??
also i have had a friend whose ex wife had epilepsy and delivering their child she suffered a seizure as the bub was half out. it near killed her and her son. that scares me alot.

    Hi Sueemp,

Sorry to be a nosy parker! (I just always like to find out why the c/s because alot of OB's will steer you away from VBAC even though it's been shown through research that VBAC is just as safe as repeat caesarian?)

Sounds like you have alot of things to consider though and I am really not in the know when it comes to pregnancy, childbirth and epilepsy. Hats off to you for having to deal with so many extra worries!

Hope that Paula's story was a nice thing to read. Maybe they can do some of those things for you, to make meeting your baby an even more wonderful event than it already is!

    All the best.

    Cheers
