Question Asking question for my best friend...

She said she has this strange discharge which she described to look like cottage cheese..?

Anyone know why this is? I told her maybe it is thrush but she said she isn't itchy...

sounds like thrush to me, thrush doesn't always have all the symptoms with it

i've had thrush many a time without the itching, and i've had it without the cheese,

    I found this for you.....

Yeast infection. A vaginal yeast infection is caused by a type of yeast called Candida albicans. A yeast infection is also called a candida infection, or candidiasis. A vaginal yeast infection often causes itching and a white, lumpy discharge that looks like cottage cheese. It also causes pain with sexual intercourse.

Okay so can she just go to the chemist and get something for it or does she need to go to the doctor? I have never had anything like this so I am clueless!

There is an 'over the counter' medication at the chemist called diflucan... there are also cheaper brands as well which consists of one tablet to treat the thrush internally and cream which eases any external comfort....
Usually you only need the one dose... If she finds it is still a problem she may need a stronger prescription from her doc...

Hope this helps hun x x

there are heaps of stuff she can get from the chemist

might pay for her to head down there and have a chat to one of the pharmacists there, they will put her right and give her whats suitable for her

I have sometimes had a discharge that looks like that and hasnt been thrush.
I wasnt itchy either so I went to my gp and it wasnt thrush - or anything else abnormal.
She might be better off going to her gp just to make sure thats what it is before she uses unecessary drugs.
