Default Australian Open - What are your thoughts?

Ok well after yet another sleepless night, I watching the tennis as I dont want to watch a horror movie that is on!

It got me thinnking to a few things.

    1. It was 1.30am and I seen a man with a beer. Now surely although it is a Friday night/Saturday morning, it is a sporting match and shouldnt there be limits in play.

    2. Is alcohol really neccessary to be provided, in a sport where most of the time it requires the spectators to be quiet. Now we all know most drunks can not be quiet.

    3. The umpires, alot of controversy over their behaviour and decisions. In the game I was watching, there were a few heated discussions, and a few off calls. Which I also noticed in another match I watched the other day.

    What do you think????

I know, I'm not usually into tennis too, but I have an opinion and want to get on my soap box about it!

I am a big fan of beer at the cricket (in moderation) so if people want to drink at the tennis- good for them! Especially on a Friday night
There are some people out there I'm sure who can drink and be quiet-
they don't hang out with me, but I'm sure they're out there!

LOL...see I'm not against alcohol at sporting matches, or in general. I work at suncorp stadium in corporate getting people intoxicated, same deal at Indy, and I have always worked in pubs.

But after all that, I have never met anyone who goes to a sporting match, you obviously goes because they like the game, and can be quiet! And I have worked at many sporting matches! Years of League, Indy, Horse races and even Goodwill games. They didnt have alcohol at the Goodwill games from memory!

I just think some things that require a quite audience, there should be restricitons on alcohol.

at the Adelaide Oval for the cricket in the general admin they only serve wine & mid strength beer- no spirits
-you can get full strength beer & spirits in the Member's bar (apparently if you can afford a member's ticket, you must be much more responsible )

and at AAMI stadium for AFL games in Adelaide you are not allowed to take your alcoholic drink to your seat- you can drink anytime during the game in the bars but otherwise you have to race down at half time to grab a drink and finish it before you go back to your seat
I've never known any different so it doesn't bother me- you're there to watch footy
but my cousins from Melb always freak out as they are used to drinking in their seats during the match in Melb

Sorry can i just insert a little support message here for Jo? GO JO!!!!!!!!! Crush Novak!!!!

In relation to this thread, it's the commentators that get up my goat - constantly. I don't mind that people drink, but then again i am not in the crowd, it may bother me if i was there with them carrying on the way they do.
    Cheers, Lisa
