    Smile gifts for the father?

my brother is expecting his first baby in July.

    my first niece.

i'd like to get him a gift of sorts. i know most of this pregnancy has been about the mum and the baby, so i'd like him to feel a part of it..

did your partners recieve anything nice that you would give someone else has a pressie?

    any ideas?

    thanks!

    thanks Easterlily.

he doesnt drink port, the sports equipment could be a goer.

he is a ford racing car fan, and i have been looking at baby gear with the ford logo, but thats still a gift for the baby and its very expensive too.....

    thanks for the suggestions

How about a t-shirt that says something like "I'm (insert bubs name here)'s Daddy!"
    Yeah ok, a little cheesy....

How about a book about Fathering? There's plenty of parenting books that are specifically directed towards Dad's.

Oh, about the Ford stuff - my DH is a Ford man and I can't justify paying $50 for a Ford Racing romper either - but I found one on eBay which I got for $10.50 including postage .

I got DH a pewter photo frame with Super Dad on it, and put his very first pic with Mackenzie in it. I think he was really touched.....

    What about:
    • A nice leather-bound journal (to write about his feelings as a new dad/pass on to his child when all grown up)
    • A sculpture of father and child
    • Day at the spa for him and partner/just for him
    • Personalised trophy (too cheesy?)
    • Engraved wine glass (or watch or compass or just about anything)
    • Put together a gift basket for him filled with small things he loves
    • Time Capsule Kit (buy a lovely box and some things he can put in it to get him started maybe)
    • Make an appointment for them to go together to get a 3D ultrasound

Hmmm, I am full of ideas but for whatever reason they're just not coming! Hope some of these were atleast helpful enough to get your own creative juices flowing!

For Chris.. either for being a daddy or for his birthday (around a month after Nugget's due) I'll get him a wallet that has photo spaces *grin*
And for Dad's Day.. or his birthday (depending on when I get him the wallet) I'm thinking of getting him a watch

My DH mainly had alcohol given to him It is nice to remember them though - mum's get pressies and babies get pressies and older siblings get pressies but the fathers tend to miss out a bit. One idea (although not terribly exciting) is a meal voucher for a nice restaurant near the hospital and a promise to take him out (after baby is born). My DH just couldn't come at eating dinner with me in the hospital at 5pm and I didn't want him eating on his own - all the fuss was aimed at me and the baby enough as it was - so we arranged for a friend of his to come in and have a nice meal with him at a local pub - a more civilised version of wetting the babies head!

I also think that the photo frame is a nice idea - his special place for photos of his girl.
