Default Really need help.Could this be Eczema ?

My DD1 is 6 years old & for the last 3 weeks is covered in a rash that started as red patches, no spots, on her knees, elbow & face then her hands & feet went completely red & the skin started to peel off.

Now it's all on her necks & back. but it's a different looking rash it's red, with lots of spots & is dry & crusty.

I have been to the Hospital twice & to 3 different GP's in total 11 doctors have looked at it & she has had full blood test done & no one can tell us what it is. We are trying to get an appointment with a Dermatologist.

I have tried several creams, 2 were steroid ones then I have tried sorbolene, QV, QV bath oil, & she has also been on an Anti-histamine. Nothing seems to work. It is not sore or itchy at all.

If it is Eczema shouldn't it be itchy. I also thought kids had eczema from birth or 1st year. She has never had anything like this & there is not history in the family of anything.

Please help. Can any of you suggest what it could be. or suggest anything to help clear it up.

Do you have a picture of the rash?

Eczema is usually itchy and annoying and can be dry and weepy especially due to the itch and scratching. Eczema can flare up at any time - I suffer from it as an adult and have since I was a child - it just flares up now and then.

When did the rash appear? Do you think it could be an allergic reaction to something?

It looks like psoriasis but surely the doctors would have picked that up. It doesn't look like eczema to me.

Interesting.... it doesn't look like eczema but could be another mild form of it but strange that none of the creams you have mentioned have worked.

I wonder then if the creams aren't working whether antibiotics (if it is a viral/bacterial infection) may help from a doctor who can pinpoint exactly what it is.

Are there other symptoms like feeling sick, fever etc?

Saw the dermatologist on Wednesday & it's PRP
    - Pityriasis rubra pilaris -.

They don't know what cause it, there is not treatment & it should disappear in about 4 months. She will probably never get it again. It's not very common PMH see about 5/6 cases a year in child. It's a bit higher in adults.

So mystery solved. Thanks you all so much for your advice & suggestions.

That's fantastic news, that you now have a diagnosis. You must be feeling relieved.
