Default chicken pox twice after being vaccinated?

I've just put DD in bath.

She's been whinging and whining for a couple of days - I've just put it down to heat.

When I put her in bath she covered in a rash similar to the last time she had Chicken Pox - and she's been vaccinated!!!!!

She covered from neck to groin, arm pits and inside elbow. They're raised spots that look like either a blister or a pimple

Oh poor little bugga! Maybe take her to the doc tomorrow and have her checked, i know they can't do much for chicken pox, but best to have her checked.
Did she get it bad the first time?
My ds and dd were both imunised for chicken pox and they both ended up getting it. Dd got it quite bad too.

I was told that they probably would'nt get it or it would be very mild, yeah right!

    Hope she feels better soon!

how small are the spots/?? that MANY chickenpox (you said covered from neck to groin) sounds like a nasty version of chickenpox .. I would thikn more heat rash than anything else/? (especially if its in her arm pits and elbows .. big hot spots )

    hi,

that is a shame that she has gotten twice, though possible despite vaccinnation. Imagine how bad it could be if your child wasn't vaccinnated! LIke PP said, could also be a heat rash as well, but certainly get it checked out. Was your child sick before the spots came out, like runny nose, sore throat etc...?

Sorry that I can't offer anything more, hope that it all goes ok for you all.

kayteO I just saw this thread. Thats terrible. I even quickly googled Mulluscum contagiosum and it says that it is really rare 5% of worlds population get it, it is mostly sexually transmitted (but you can get it from skin-to-skin as well) and it was largely only in the tropics. Did the doctor say there was an outbreak of this in your area? I would get a second opinion. I hope you DD feels better soon.

Quite probably no different at all. I wasn't vaccinated (because CP vax was not avaliable when we were young) and I got it 3 times, once badly, the next two times not as badly. There is no reason it would be any worse if the child was not vaccinated.

KayteO - hope your little girl is feeling better and you are getting some real answers

I also wasn't vax'd for CP, and had it twice, both times very mild. I don't even recall feeling ill! I have a good immunity to it now though.

KayteO - to your DD, hope she is on the mend with whatever it is she may have!?

6 hrs waiting at Royal Childrens Hosp - she has Gianotti Crosti Syndrom (wtf?) - a virus that has a rash with it.

All we can do is treat the symptoms and time will take care of the rest

    worry over now

Have only just seen your thread now, but wanted to tell you we went through something like this -- weeks of the kind of symptoms you are describing. Our GP thought my daughter had chickenpox (he saw her very early on) and so did her dad (also a doctor). It got worse and worse and ended up being...

    school sores.

By the time we realised what it was (a doctor at husband's work picked it up after seeing pics), she was really quite ill. A quick course of antibiotics and it was all gone. I'll never forgive myself for it and have thrown away all the piccies from around then (it was around Christmas...)

Hope you have a correct diagnosis now and that it clears up soon!
