help themselves to food from the fridge/cupboard whenever they want at any time of the day, or do they haveto ask you before grabbing that biscuit out of the jar? Just curious![]()
Yes, if they are hungry they can help themselves to anything without asking
No, they haveto ask first
They haveto ask for food except fruit/healthy stuff which they can have as much of as they want

Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes... because then when you do judge someone, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.
Combination of both.
There are certain items that they can eat as they see fit - apples banana's other fruit etc
But most of the time they ask anyway.
They help themselves to water from the fridge when ever they want.

I don't let them but yes they do help themselves. I don't mind if its cereal but I prefer they ask first. I was brought up to ask first. My youngest is the worst. He lugs jars of fruit and 3L of milk around th ehouse.![]()

I found it hard to answer the poll - as Jack helps himself to the fridge .. but DOES come and then show me what he chose and asks me to help him with it (cut it, open it .. whatever) ..
he is allowed fruit, yoghurt, museli bars at any time .. chocolates and biscuits - he can only have AFTER a meal ..

I get them to ask first. I dont like it if she just helps herself to the fridge or cupboard. I can also keep an eye what she is eating an encourage healther choices instead of just biscuits if she has had one or two I say no more biscuits if you are still hungry have an apple, orange or bannana etc.
It is good. She loves to eat fruit and Veges.
DD is only 2 but we don't mind her going to get her own food when she is hungry.
we don't have anything in the fridge at her level that she should not eat so its not really a problem.
the stuff she gets is fruit, veg or yogurt, i have it all set up for her so she can just grab it, she also has drinks made up for her in there.
if she went crazy and just kept on eating i would not let her do it but she knows whats hers and she is not much of a big eater so we haven't had a problem so far

They have to ask first. Allthough DS1 who is 2.5 likes to get things out of the fridge or cupboard and come and ask me if he can have it.

DS has to ask first. He's on the Failsafe additive-free diet. The good thing is that because we started it when he was 20mths, he's in the habit of asking, and only takes food offered by DH, myself or immediate family, and they all know the rules. Thankfully he doesn't even try to take food from plates or tables at parties etc. We'll see how long that lasts though! I'm sure I'll be faced with that argument one day. lol

Mitchie's too little to ask yet, but I want him to ask first, before just grabbing anything. I guess fruit is ok for him to grab, but I'll have to teach him sit up at the table and put a bib on first!!!
