    Default Early Ultrasound

I went to my doctor and he confirmed my pregnancy just before I was 6 weeks .. he then referred me to clinic and I don't have to see anyone until then which is around 14 weeks!!

I'm such a paranoid person, was with my first pregnancy and it's started already with this one!

I'm pretty sure I have urine infection or some kind of infection at the moment and i'm going to the doctor tomorrow ...

is it ok to request an ultrasound?
Will they do one if they think nothings wrong?
I know it's bad but should I fake something like cramps and pain to get one?

Someone correct me if im wrong.

I dont think the doctor will give u a scan if nothings wrong and because u have already had a healthy pregnancy they are now trying to give less scans.

Have u told the doctor of ur dates? u could say that u dont no ur dates and get a early dating scan.

You should be able to get the 12 week scan to check for downs etc without question. If you are going privately most obs to a scan in their rooms at about 9 weeks as well. I would ask for a referal for your 12 weeks scan. But i can understand if you are feeling anxious, i did too. So perhaps just be honest and say something doesnt feel right and that you are worried and see if you can get one early.

Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy

If you want the fetal anomoly ultrasound that needs to be done between 11 and 13 weeks, a lot of doctors (for some reason I can't fathom) don't actually offer this to mums-to-be - but it IS covered under medicare. If you want it, just make another appointment to see your GP and ask for a referral to have it done.

I'd see a different dr and say you don't know your dates!

Its also worth bearing in mind that the Docs and Obs do not recommend too many ultrasounds unless its absolutely necessary. It can cause hearing problems after birth.

Does the doc you visit each month have one in his office? My doc does and I get a literal 5sec peek with each visit.

My Ob does this too,..... a 10sec scan every visit...and then a quick 3D look,.. According to my Ob, there is no reliable indication that this could do any sort of damage to the baby,...and as he is one of the top obs in the country, I trust him,..
