Hey there. We are from NZ and got our baby his passport before we came over last year. Dunno how different it is here but we just went to our local travel agent and picked up a passport application form, filled it out, got photos taken and sent it off to get approved. Best of luck. Hardest thing usually is the photo!!

Yep you need to get her Citizenship by Descent certificate LINK
It can take awhile to be processed and costs $200 you havet o apply to NZ to do that one.
Once that arrives in the mail you then need to fill out a NewZealand passport application for her, which you can send to the Sydney office so you wont have to send that one off to NZ. You;ll have to attach the citizen cert with it and any other required documents ( birth certs, marriage certs etc). That costs about $80.
It can be a bit of a pain in the butt, I had to do it for my son a couple of years ago and now am doing it for my second son as we are going to NZ for a Holiday in March.
I wold suggest you get onto it asap so as not to have any last minute stress about getting the passport ( like we did last time, passport arrived two days before we flew )

Ah yes becasue your bubs were born in NZ they are automatically NZ citizens so dont need to apply for a citizen cert, us Kiwis living in Australia who have children born here have to apply for NZ citiznship by descent as our babies despite being born in OZ are neither Australian citizens ot Kiwi citizens, weird when I found my bub was a citizen of NOWHERE!!

No I tell a lie you can do the citizenship via Sydney and it costs $180 AU. thanks for pointing that out I was gonna send it to NZ, just as well would have taken forever like it did last time.
I have filled out the forms and got the passport pics, which you need for both applications but have yet to send it off, I need to do it so it is not last minute, but it is so blooming expensive I havent had the spare $$ to do it with xmas coming up. Must do it!!!:nono:

We did both at once, via the Sydney office and two weeks later we got the certificate and the passport in the mail. Stupid though, it was left at the front door when we weren't home
