    Default label makers?

I have two kids going into school this year, and usually I buy some ready made lables, but wondered if it might work out better over the years if I buy a label maker? Does anyone have any that are good, and can you get iron on labels with them too for the clothes?

I got DH a Dymo labeler from Woolworths - it was $50. Kmart have them too, plus iron on labels for about $10.
I actually went to the trouble of buying some iron on labels for DD but I hate ironing and have never used them, I just use a permanent pen instead.
