MIL and I don't like each other.

I’m sure that we are not the only MIL and DIL that do not get along.

I will not bore you all with the details.

He is happy to have at least another 2 kids together but doesn’t want to get married due to the MIL factor.

I don’t really mind if we do or don’t get married but I just thought it was a little odd that he thought we were the only couple that have this issue.

Any thoughts on this?

marrying you is about yours and his relationship it has nothing to do with wether his mother likes or doesn't like you.....not to sound rude i think that is a poor cop out....

hmmm i think thats silly, and agree with the both of you,
i know plenty of ppl who dont get along with they in laws, and plenty
of ppl who are married and cant attend family things with their
husband because they dont get along so much.. so i think this is a poor
reason for him to not want to get engaged.

i had an arguement with my DP a few weeks ago because he didnt
wanna spend any of his 12 grand he won on an engagement ring instead
he wanted to use it all on his effing car.. MEN!! i swear! lol

I would say this- you are the mother of his child and he doesn't want to marry you because of his mummy. What a cop out - you are good enough to bear his children and be their mother for ever but not good enough for him to publicly commit to for ever. This is a very poor excuse.

There comes a time in a man and womans life when they have to make a commitment to their new life and family- it does not mean that their mother is no longer important - she will allways be their mother however- a real man would be able to stand up to their mother and say this is my choice and my family now so you will just have to deal with it.

He should love you enough to be a real man!

I don't understand how he said he is willing to have more children with you though?
I can't stand the MIL, I think that is why DH loves me so much, we have something in common,but I don't think it would have mattered when he proposed though,and back then him and MIL were peas in a pod.

I am like lilmeags suggested, I am not invited to family things but DH and the kids are. Which I think is pretty low, but I personally would sit down and ask him how that could possibly sway his decision so much? And why that is such a major factor to him? I think you will find there may be a few more reasons than he has said.
