    Default Breastfeeding and period returning?

    Hi there

I am fully BF my 8 week old and today i have noticed some red blood - it is only a small amount, but it needs a pad. I had a bit of brown spotting at 6 weeks and my post-partum bleeding stopped at about 3 weeks.

Could my period be returning already? I thought it didnt come back for several months?

I am really concerned that if my periods are starting then i could be fertile again.

    ANy advice much appreciated. TIA

It very well could be, some women do get there cycles back even when fully BF I got mine at around 8 weeks too.. If you are worried about being fertile, have you looked into getting on the minipill?

I got my AF back after 5 weeks and then it went AWOL until 7 months (where i had 2 periods 2 weeks apart - each one went for 3 weeks!!!) Now it's back to normal at 11 months.

    Ah the joys

    Hi Mel
My little one is 9wks and I also got my period for the first time in close on 2 years. Mine was really heavy and has lasted for over a week. I'm also breastfeeding full time!! I won't be doing anything sexual until I see my gyno!!

I'm not going to be pregnant 3 years running!!:nono:

I didnt get mine til 12 months.

Are you BFing through the night? You need to BF every 3 hours or so especially through the night to keep your period away.
