Default Ideas for a baby going on 7 months

I want to introduce oats to DD1 who is almost 7 months old. Weve had it in a jar before combined with apple but I want to make it on my own. Do I grind it even further in the processor? Im thinking of mixing it with pureed apple or pear for lunchtime or breakfast meals.

Im getting a bit tired of just making farex for the mornings although she seems to really love it.

Also at tea time shes tried sweet potato (only with farex as she hates it on its own!. Same goes for brocolli and carrot. Thats about all Ive tried so far so if any one can think of others that would be very helpful
Ive even thought about things like green beans, peas or eggplant?
Ive bought a happy baby set of trays from big w so I want to make the most of it and fill it all up so I dont have to puree stuff every day at lunch time.

Bellamys make a really nice organic baby porridge that my DD1 loved. It is suitable for babies from 6 months. It tastes a lot nicer than the rice cereal and is made from oats.

It is usually available in BiLo or Coles in the baby food section. They have a good website (google 'Bellamys organic') for lots of info and to locate a store that stocks it.

Have you tried her with yoghurt yet? Yoghurt and fruit is always a great alternative for breakfasts.

I would just go ahead and introduce oats then. On its own first (the finer ground stuff in the baby section) then with fruit or yoghurt. I think you already have the right idea, food is best kept simple at this age

I give our DD yoghurt, she loves it - what about custard ?

I also sometimes give a biscuit like a milk arrowroot biscuit sokaed in milk and mashed up IYKWIM ?

Also, I stew and puree apples and pears and freeze them in ice cube trays and when she wants some I get 4 ice cubes and heat them up in the microwave in a small bowl, and she will happily eat them.

What about soggy weetbix, or you can get the fruity bix - some kids love the bits of fruit in them.

Sometimes if I have them, I'll squish up some mango and give it to her, she loves mango. But you can do that with any fruit - bananas, grapes, peach - just break off tiny bits with your finger and let her eat it off your fingers.

    Good luck !

Correct me if Im wrong but I didnt realise that weetbix was allowed at this stage? Its just something ive read somewhere.

The pureed pear is working great. I do the 4 sections in the happy baby tray. Keeps her regular!!

I didn't try wheatbix until DS was 8 1/2 months old. I think from 7-9 months you can introduce wheat products, if there is no family history of allergy.

I make an orange and green veggie mix for lunch and dinner, and fruits for breakfast.

So far he has tried apple, pear, blueberries, banana, mango, sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, peas, zucchini, broccoli and spinach. He has a 'desert' at lunch - usually baby yogurt, jelly or custard.

This week we are going to try watermelon, plum and apricot
