    Question Is Elevit enough??

My OBGYN swears by Elevit and says that's all I need to be taking (I started taking it 2 months before I conceived, and am still taking it now - I'm 13 weeks pregnant).

I've recently heard conflicting stories about Elevit; that it's cr@p and a waste of money, that it doesn't have enough of what a pregnant woman needs in it, that the blackmores is heaps better .

It's so frustrating when you hear conflicting information, especially from doctors. Obviously they all have their preferences etc., but it happened when I was diagnosed with PCOS. Some said to keep taking metformin when I fell pregnant, my OBGYN was adamant that I needed to stop taking it immediately when I conceived.

What pregnancy supplements do you take, and were you told to take them by a OBGYN/GYNO, GP, Chemist, or just decided for yourself??

I took Blackmores when pregnant with DD, and then found out at around 20 weeks that i was anaemic so i had to take liquid Iron aswell.
So with DS i thought id try Elevit, i had no problems whatsoever, so think perhaps it was slightly better than the latter.

I was told it's the only product that my Dr recommends as it's terrific.

I use it and haven't had any issues so far, although, I hate swallowing tablets

I have always and will always use Elevit. I have been advised to keep taking it until I have finished BF my last child so that I will do

I think it is fantastic and everyone I have known who has taken it has never had any problems and only speaks highly of it.

I actually found that Elevit had TOO MUCH iron for me - I'm taking a supplement called FabFol Plus for a while because it has less iron.

The pregnancy supplements are only ever supposed to SUPPLEMENT a healthy diet anyway - so it should be enough if you're eating sensibly

I love Elivit, I love how you only need to take one good sized tablet rather than 2 huge capsules (blackmores) and it works out heaps cheaper where I get it from. I had very low iron both pregnancies, first one I used B, second, I used E. My midwife told me tey are as good as taking smarties! so I don't know what to think

My Ob told me either were fine. I use Blackmores and have never had a problem with it.

I had to stop taking Elevit because there was just too much iron in it and I already had a high in Iron diet so it caused me a lot of bowel issewes.

I took folic acid supplements till I was about 30 weeks along.
Then I started up the Blackmores pregnancy + breastfeeding supplements and took them till 12 weeks after the birth.

I didn't take anything with either of my pregnancies apart from extra folate.

    All 3 kids are perfect!

If you eat a healthy diet... you shouldn't need it.... it's a dietary 'supplement' if you're not getting enough in your food; not a 'requirement'
