Default High Temp - what does that do to bubs?

    Hi Everyone,

I've been relatively healthy in my pregnancy til today. I'm feeling really blah, I feel hot, my head is pounding and I just want to zonk out, unfortunately I am at work and only just flew in today for the start of my roster.

Does anyone know how my body temperature relates to bubs? is it true that her temp is a few degrees above mine and therefore if I have a temp I need to get it down ASAP?

Any advice would be great, I'm really tempted to go back to my donga and go to bed, but got a meeting no-one can cover for. BUT having said that, if I'm putting my bubs at risk of anything, I'm out the door in 2 seconds flat.

Thanks - I'll stay online to see what everyones opinions are.

I am sorry I don't know the answer, but if you haven't already take a panadol to try and get you temperature down. Hope someone else has better advice for you than I do

Sorry - no idea on the effects of the temp. Just try to keep cool I guess. Where are you working BTW? My friends partner is up north too, funny to hear someone else talk about Dongers

Do you actually have a temp? Have you actually checked it? Because if you do I'd be going to the Dr just in case you have an infection of some sort.

If it's not a temperature and you are feeling a bit warmer than usual, I'm sure that's normal because I was a little warmer through my pregnancy. Hormones! Don't you just love them?! Lol!

I do know that 'overheating' can be dangerous. If you are unsure about it all, it never hurts to see a Dr. Just to put your mind at ease

What to Expect when You're Expecting suggests the following:
    • Call your dr the same day if you have a fever above 37.7 degrees .
    • Call immediately for fever over 38.8 degrees.

A high fever can increase the risk of miscarriage or birth defects but this is primarily a concern during the first trimester and especially weeks 3 to 7.

Thanks for replying, I ended up going home and going to bed and sleeping in this morning - feeling a bit better, my head is a little clearer.

There aren't any Dr's here as I'm on a gold mine in the desert (WA Pilbara), but I'll see the medic this afternoon as I still feel like my temperature is higher than it should be. Not a fever, but I should get it checked your right as its not just feeling hotter than normal, I have those days when I can't get cool but this feels like I'm coming down with something, you know that blah feeling you get when your body is fighting off a cold or something?

Thanks for getting back to me, its nice to have some replies and well wishes! I'm so glad I found bubhub!

That's a bit tough when you're working out there. Have you ever tried the Health Direct number in WA? It puts you through to a registered nurse who can at least answer your questions with a bit more experience and help decide on urgency of seeing a doctor. I've called them a few times just to get a 2nd opinion on things like my DD running a fever and when to take her to hospital.

The number is ph: 1800 022 222 (WA only).
