    Default Well done, RISA!!

    Hi,
I just wanted to say how incredibly helpful i have found these threads and the RISA website. I have only just realised this week that my baby may have reflux. THE RISA website was sooo helpful in bringing me this understanding and meant that I knew what was significant when I saw my GP, who very quickly agreed that reflux is likely to be the issue. I cried and cried when I read the list of symptoms, as i realised I had begun to think of my beautiful little 6 week old boy as 'difficult' or 'grumpy' or myself as just no good with babies, not realising he was in real pain.

I have a referral to a paed. which I will follow up ASAP, but I wanted to thank you for the wonderful advice you offer both here and on your website. How lovely that your responses to all the concerned mums on this site are so warm and caring, and detailed!!! I have found them extemely helpful. After just a day or two of following a lot of this advice, I have noticed such a change in my little fellow. I'm also planning to take dairy out of my diet (YIKES! I'm a dairy farmer's daughter!) to see if that might further help. Basically, I'll do anything to ease my little fellow's discomfort. I just thought you guys should get some encouragement too though for the great help you are to us frazzled and hurting mums who want so much to do the right things for our babies.

    Hi Egall,
Thank you sooo much for your words of encouragement!!! As reflux parents ourselves, we know it's important for reflux families to get the support and information they need, especially as family and friends often just don't understand. To know that it helps, and to get encouragement like that is fantastic, and i am sure everyone else will appreciate it as much as i do!!! Thank you so much for letting us know!!! It really helps to know that we do make a big difference and that our efforts are so worthwhile (and appreciated).

I'm also thrilled to know that my advice has been so helpful, and that your bub seems to be more comfortable already!! Yikes about you being a dairy farmer's daughter- I'm sure that must be difficult for you to even contemplate! Good on you for making that decision to try avoiding dairy, as I can imagine how hard that is for you. I hope your family are supportive of you, but even if they aren't, if it is the answer you need, it may help them understand too. If you do find it helps, then please seek medical guidance, as getting your diet right, and replacing those lost nutrients, is really important (as I'm sure you know).

It may help you too, to know that what you have experienced already, not only all the difficulties, but the emotions, is really common. Just keep telling yourself what a great job you are doing, because you are!! Please keep following your instincts like you have been doing, and I'm sure you will find the answers you need to help your son feel more comfortable. Please stay in touch with your doctors, and let them know if you have any concerns!
