Overseas

Hubby has been put on the list to go overseas for 6months.

if he goes he will be going the month before second baby is due.

im really not handling this news we find out in 3weeks what is happening,

Hi there,

The best thing you can do is put a contingency plan in place right away. If he goes, then there is a good chance you will be having the baby without him - unless the little one comes early.

Check out what your options are as soon as you can and put something in place. Perhaps look at what those near and dear to you are doing and if any of them can come and stay with you, (mum, sister, best friend etc). You can always cancel these arrangements if he ends up not going.

I feel for you, facing the prospect of having a baby without your husband can be a very daunting. I know I really missed my husband when he was not available in those early years, but you can get through it, (even if at times it feels like you aren't).

I can't imagine how you must be feeling. We had our kids before DH joined the army and it's hard enough now coping when he is away. If you do not have any loved ones that can come to you is it possible to go to them? I know a lady that went home for a month when her baby was due so she could be with her mum and my sister in law had her 2nd a couple of weeks before her hubby went on deployment, so she went back to the in laws for a month or so, just for a break, some support and company. How far along are you? I'm guessing no one compares to your hubby, but is there anyone else you feel comfortable with to support you through the birth?

A few weeks ago my DH was told he was going overseas for 13 months (and he'd just been away for a month) and instantly when he told me I felt sick, but that was cancelled a week before he was meant to go and he has been told maybe Jan, so you never know what can happen. But I agree with ConcernedParent about making a plan, and you will both feel better if you know that you will be taken care of. My fingers are crossed for you. Look after yourself and your precious bundle.

I agree about putting a plan in place. My hubby left for oversea's when I was 7 weeks pregnant. He was meant to be back late April but things changed (as the army always do without notice) Bub was due in mid June. I was very upset but knew that that was his job and there was nothing I could do about it. I went to stay with my parents ( to keep me sane) and talked it through with them about the birth and who was going to be there if hubby was not home. Thankfully Dh got home 10 days before bub arrived.

I know it's hard but try to accept it. it's easier to have in your head that he is going for sure and it will be great if he doesn't end up going.
