    Unhappy Send me..something...

I do not know whether I need hugs, positive energy or what...I just know I need something

My Nana (76) is very sick, she has been sick for a while now, and is a very old 76. She has recently just broken her hip and now she as aspirated some food (food in her lung) and now she has a chest infection. She is so unwell, and is in so much pain.

Today I went to visit them and Nana told me she has had enough

She can not walk very well, and can not do anything with out assistance. She is on oxygen and a nebuliser almost 24hrs a day .That is not living.

The selfish side of me wants her to live forever because I want her here, to watch DD grow up and to be part of her life and she was in mine. BUT the reality of it is, she needs to go it is the kinder of the two options.

I do not know what to get from this post, I am sitting here balling at the thought of her passing, but my heart is aching for her, and I wish I could take her pain away.

Thanks for reading and I am sorry it was so depressing.
You know what, I deserve better. I will stand up and out of your shadow, I will feel the wind in my wings, I will learn to fly, you can stay and enjoy my freedom or leave, either way I was born to fly.

Aww hunny ... I don't know what to say

My biggest fear is watching my grandparents go through what you have just described, especially my mums mum... we are just so close and like you, I would want her to be around as long as possible but at the same time you want their suffering to stop.

Here's a whole heaps of hugs

I'm thinking of you and you know where I am if you ever want to talk.

    Love ya, Nat xxx

It is my Mums Mum. Its so hard, you know that they can not live forever (as nice as it would be) but the reality is, they can not.
I just wish euthanasia was legal

I watched my 100 year old gran go through this and it was horrible i had mixed emotions, yes she should go but no i want her to stay! dd was 2 when she passed away so it was a few years ago now but i remember sitting there in hospital with her dd was laughing and i could see a slight twinkle in my grans eye, the nurses and my aunty told us to get out as she needed the rest and my gran spoke up and said "you leave please" it was so sad, i bawled my eyes out, these were her last words, she wanted to spend time with dd obviously and as horrible as it was i am so happy that she passed away the way she wanted too around those who loved her (even if she did kick out the others she still loved them but she didnt get to see dd very often)

Its not an easy time for you hun and its so hard but sending you lots of hugs there, i know it doesnt make it any easier though

Theres always something special about our mothers mums isn't there??

I would be totally torn aswell if I was in your situation...

My Grandmas health has just been getting worse the past year and it's definately a scary realisation that they won't be around forever...

Hang in there hun, as hard as it is, just try and make the most of your time with her. Catch her on a "good" day and take heaps of nice photos of you together to have those memories.

    It can't be easy.

This is what scares me the most. The mad panic, have I got enough photos, can a remember her? Will I remember her well, and happy, not like this?

I fear her "good" days have run out I am deeply hoping they have not.
