Exclamation Silly ballerina mouse playmat and silly me

Just wanted to warn others about what freaked me out just this morning. DD1 was playing on her ballerina play mat and I knew it was her feeding time as she started to winge. So I picked her up and the mat came up with her. I couldnt understand why it was doing that so I lifted my girl a little higher. To my shock horror the string with the love heart attached to it was wrapped around her poor little neck!!
I felt so silly and am thinking of throwing the damn thing out now. Lucky she wasnt hurt. She fed well and is sleeping peacefully now.
Ive learn't a hard lesson. Please be careful out there.

Ring the manufacturers and get your money back! Thats disgraceful! OR take it back to where you bought it, tell them what happened and ask for a refund.

    Glad she is ok though

There's a little opening in one if the petals for the heart to tuck into...I always left it tucked in coz I was worried DD would get tangled in it. She often stuck her hand/foot into the pocket tho and the whole thing would lift up when I picked her up

I agree about making a complaint. They shouldn't have any strings on baby products long enough to go around a bubs neck.

Unfortunately I bought mine second hand on ebay and cant take it back now. Thanks guys for your opinions. I still use the mat however I watch her now while she is on it and yes you can tuck the heart thing into a pouch. We play more in her porta cot now and she loves it in there.
I was so grossed out by the play mat when I first bought it as I wasnt aware that the mat wasnt from a pet free home. I found cat hairs on a ballerina mouse!! Gross! Sorry cat lovers but I wasnt happy at all! Threw away all the beams and dangly toys and just ended up keeping the mat. Gave it a good wash though but still!
Im gonna sew a new mat anyways as DD1 is rolling a lot more and I have lots of wadding from DH's speakers that I can reuse.

Even though you bought it on ebay the manafacturer doesnt know that say you threw your recipt out and even if they dont give you a refund they should stil look into it furthur and make it noted that they need to make it shorter!!

I personally would be cutting the string OFF the heart, and tucking the heart, sans string, inside its pocket. So what if it gets lost - but at least it won't be a threat to your little girl again!

    How scary for you

I have the same play mat but the string on mine must be way shorter than yours. It's much too short to wrap around anything Maybe yours slipped through quality control or something. Playgro are usually pretty good I find

I would definitely let the manufacturer know so that they can correct the problem. You might prevent somebody's baby from being hurt or killed.
