He's a politician- its his job to lie.

I think you might find that in the sake of our nations safety he felt he had no choice. He was doing what he thought best at the time.

I'm not sure that I agree entirely with the statement that it was all about oil. I think there were many reasons that they decided that we should go to war. I cannot understand why our nations safety would come into it at all though. What threat was Iraq to us? I am definitely not all that knowledgable on the situation, but I have never seen anything that tells me that our country was at risk what so ever.

I don't know what the answer was to helping the Iraqi people to be free from Saddam Hussein, but I know it certainly wasn't this war which has taken so many innocent lives.

I probably didnt word that correctly- i meant more along the lines of presenting a "united" front with the US. It is not a nation that you want on your "bad" side. As the war in Iraq has proven.

Im a liberal supporter through and through but i struggle with this topic. There are too many conflicting reasons etc.
I dont agree that we are looking for "weapons of mass destruction" at all, i think it has more to do with the war against terrorism. And probably a whole lot of underlying reasons that none of us can even begin to understand-nor, i dont think, will we ever know.

I'm pretty sure that there were never any threats of terrorism to the US or Australia at that time. There were many countries that refused to go to war with America and I haven't seen any negative repercussions on them?

Saddam Hussein killed and tortured many thousands of people, I agree that something needed to be done to stop him but now it's at the point where 700 000 innocent Iraqi's have died in this war. It makes me sad that our government involved us in this.

I agree with you. I dont know why we didnt pull out after no weapons were found and i feel awful that so many lives have been destroyed over it.

I think- meaning, what i understand of the situation, which, by my own admission isn't much that not so much to have the US offside is bad but better to have them onside. Incase they are needed, they are a massive force to have as your support? Very influential?
Oh, im babbling now, as you can tell, i have no idea

    What really disgusts me....

Is when papa nu guinea were in need of help, John Howard sent troops, (that's the good part), he contacted George Bush for help, (he asked if he could send troops), George Bush said No.
(This was before the war on Iraq).

Just goes to show that John Howard supported his end of the alliance by sending troops to Iraq.

It is incredibly devastating that soldiers from both countries are dying.
I mean this in no excuse (I don't support the war on Iraq).
But Bin laden is still alive, he is still out there, planning attacks against the world- not just America.
When someone joins the army, they join to protect their country. If they are joining for other reasons, I suggest they DO NOT join.
It is despicable that George is still sending so many troops to Iraq, but I believe John Howard has sent troops to help protect Australia.

I can't help but thank our troops for their selfless devotion in fighting for our safety.
George bush- I don't thank him for anything.

I think John Howard has put our country at greater risk by sending our troops to fight an illegal war!

I think he is a liar and finally people have woken up to that.
