Tick Treatment for Cats?

Does anyone know where I can get a tick treatment for cats?

I've only had a quick look in Woolies today while I was there... but there was only something for dogs (it specifically said, DO NOT USE ON CATS on it).

I'm sure I could go to a vet and get it done... but I've recently moved, have no idea where a vet is around here, and I don't drive, so it would be very hard to get Chester (my cat) there and back... especially considering I'd have to bring DD too.

So do you know if there a tick treatment for cats that I can administer myself?

If so, any idea where I can get it, what it's called and how much it might cost me...??

Is there a pet store near you? Some of the bigger ones will stock something just a thought

maybe ask at a pet shop they always have treatments there, and they can give you advise on what you need to do.

There are heaps of online stores that sell Frontline and similar products. I personally wouldn't trust anything from the supermarket to kill ticks, if you find any.

Any of the vets or actual pet shops.

Frontline is the best for ticks and fleas!

you could try city farmers, vets will sell a product over the counter, if it is only one tick and you are not in a paralysis tick area you can smother it with vasoline, or metho will kill them, otherwise frontline

There are actually no cat treatments for ticks. We looked into it a couple of months ago because we were worried about are dogs bringing home ticks from the park and giving them to the cats. Basically the stuff they use to treat the ticks is too toxic to be used on cats. So we treat our dogs so they don't bring them home.

Our cat had ticks and the vet removed them and recommended Frontline (which does treat them as well as fleas). Only we have to use the treatment every 2 weeks as we live in a bush area and cat is more likely to get them from the bandicoots and possums in our garden.

So far the treatment has worked really well.

Many vets are open on weekends so you could get DP to pick it up for you. Many pet shops carry it too.
