I used these as well but found I had to increase the dosage and take the tablets more often as my morning sickness didn't ease off all that much when I went by the instructions.

When I was p/g last year my doc and chemist both suggested taking these, (which I did) but they said that they 'can' take up to 3 weeks to start working (but in the meantime I had a m/c so can't say whether this is true or not).

However, if you do start them and think they're not working, persevere because it can take a while for the tablet to get into your system (apparently)

Small amounts of fresh ginger are probably okay, but large amounts of ginger may contribute to contractions of the uterus, and this may be more pronounced in women who have had a miscarriage. Ginger seems to stimulate circulation in the pelvis and is sometimes used to bring on a menstrual period. One or two cups of ginger tea a day is probably fine, although for a woman who has suffered miscarriages I would recommend avoiding it altogether in the first trimester.
There have not been many scientific studies of the effects of herbs in pregnancy, so we really do not "know" what is safe and what is not. Much of the information on natural remedies and pregnancy is anecdotal, meaning it has been passed down by word of mouth and not derived from rigorous scientific studies. Many of the references I use for natural remedies list things that should not be used in pregnancy without giving a good explanation.

My feeling on herbs -- or anything else -- in pregnancy is to be extra careful. Never use an herb without first discussing it with your doctor. In general, if I find any source that suggests a particular herb should not be used by a pregnant woman, even if I cannot find a scientific study to back that up, I will not let my patient use it. If I can't find any information one way or the other, I suggest it be avoided.

I just read this from another thread!! Arhhhh

This is my first pregnancy and I had morning sickness heaps bad when I was about 8 weeks. After being sick about 6-7 times my mum decided to get me the blackmores morning sickness tablets (for ppl playing at home it has pink label with a pregnant woman on it). At first I thought they were helping but since taking the tablets ive been sick another 4 times so i think they didnt work plus I really hated the taste of ginger didnt matter what drink i had to swallow the tablet or if i ate before or after coz the ginger taste.

    Default Blackmores progress

Hi! I have read with interest everyone's comments on the Blackmores morning sickness tablets. I have been taking these for 5 days and for the last two days I have been so sick that I haven't been able to go to work. I am wondering if these tablets are working... or maybe making me worse! I am contemplating going off the tablets but am worried if I do I will get even worse. This is too much to cope with! I'm 8 weeks along and have tried eating before getting ot of bed etc and nothing much seems to help. Has anyone else found that these tablets take a while to kick in or just don't work?

I tried everything to ease my morning sickness including the blackmores tablets and they did nothing at all. I just had to ride it out for 4 months and then it slowly subsided.

    Morning sickness sucks!!
