    Default Standing

My 6 month old doesn't like to stand. All other babies I know love standing and are constantly putting weight on their legs. DD can do it, but rarely does it for very long, always bending her legs once I put her to standing position. The MCHN said if she wasn't bearing weight on her legs by 6 months she'd be very concerned, and she gave me some activities to try to encourage her, but they haven't really worked.

She's quite good with other gross motor skills. She's been able to hold her head up from a very early age, and is almost sitting unaided now. She's rolled both ways a few times but isn't much of a roller. She's starting to commando crawl a little bit.

I'm just wondering if other babies may have had an issue with standing early on, and whether they ended up standing OK later on, and whether they were late walkers or not.

Shes only young give her time My first bubs was walking at 9 months (nightmare) with ds he didnt stand up till he was about 11 months old and dd2 didnt stand till around the same time. They did however stand around 8 months old on my knee etc if i encouraged them but i tended to let them go at their own pace.

Each baby develops at different speeds, having one child walking under 12 months then having another start around 18 months was a shock to me but some are just slow starters

DD didn't roll over till seven months. She had problems with her neck, and with physio it was fixed.

At 8 months she was standing, aided. She was not standing at all at 6 months. She is 9 months and can't stand unaided, however I don't think that is a bad thing. Do not panic. Keep encouraging her and she will get stronger.
