    Default Searching for Greek Recipe

I'm looking for a recipe of something I ate in Greece a while ago.

It was something like split peas all smashed and mushed with olive oil and some extra things. It was used for dipping.
On the menu it said "Flava".

Does anyone know (help greek mums) what it is ?

    Aren't Fava beans like broadbeans?
I am positive I have seen a Fava recipe in the last week or so in a Woman's Day or New Idea magazine. I don't think I have the magazine though but I will check but maybe if anyone has those mags they could have a look??

Just found this online.... Could this be it maybe??

This actually sounds really yummy - might have to try and make it myself!!

    Ingredients
    2 cups broad beans
    1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
150 mls (approx) extra virgin olive oil
    Finely chopped chilli (optional)
    Pepper
    Salt

Boil some water in a large pot. Once boiling, add the broad beans a few at a time so it continues to boil.
Cook until tender. Run under running cold water then remove the outer skin from the broad beans.
Add the beans, mint, lemon juice and salt and pepper (to taste) to a food processorblender/bowl and blend until fairly smooth. Whilst still blending, add the olive oil a little at a time making sure it is mixed in properly. Continue to add oil until the dip is at a consistency you think is suitable for a dip

i am think of the fava beans one. you can get them in a can they are 'smashed' up. then you add olive oil, lemon juice, cumin etc also called 'Full' from what i remember growing up and having it! so yum! i actually have some in the cupboard!

and serve with lebanese/pita bread, mixed salad of diced cucumber, onion, tomato and lettuce. and also boiled and slice up some eggs.

so top your bread with the mix, salad and eggs and enjoy!
