    Default Contented Little Baby

    Hi,
I am a first time mum to a little girl, now 5 1/2 weeks old. I am using the CLB routines and wanted to talk to someone else that is using them as well. Mostly its going well but have some questions as to what anyone else does on those days when it all goes wrong with sleeping or waking to early etc? what do you do when their morning and lunchtime nap goes horribly wrong, do you let them sleep in the afternoon? also does your little enjoy the bath time ritual?

    Sorry what is CLB?

My second child who is a girl, is 6 weeks old today. She is very good at night, has her bath at 7:15, feed and bed without problem. But during the day, she does not let me put her down at all. She cries as soon as I put her in the bassinet.

    Help!

CLB is contented little baby, a book by Gina Ford, its full of routines for babies and so far its working pretty well. A friend that i trust has used it for her 2 boys and swears by it.

The book says not to keep a little one awake for longer than 2 hours during the day after each feed, and to put them down within this time whether they like it or not. have you tried looking for tired signs and putting them down when you see these?

I haven't read the book, but just thought I would say not to get too wrapped up in any book....we all have a motherly instinct, and you will not hear it if you go just by a book. Do what feels natural and right for you. Women have been having babies for thousands of years without the help of books, and yes babies can be hard work, but unless someone has written a book specifically on your baby, I would concentrate more on what YOU think YOUR baby wants, and I think if you go with you gut instinct you will do wonderfully. I think in todays society we read way to much instead of just enjoying these gorgeous little creatures.
    Goodluck to you

I used the CLB (Contented Little Baby book) as a guide line.I find its impossible to have such a strict routine everyday. Maybe if the routine is really turned upside down u culd just go with it and try to push it back into line by bed time, thats what I try to do.

I started out using this book - a friend who swears by it gave it to me. I'm sure it works for some but not us. It turned me into an anxious mum as my little lady didn't fit into the very strict routine and I kept thinking I was doing something wrong!!
