    Question Moving to Adelaide

Hi am new to this site & not quite sure what I'm doing so hope this goes in the right place. I am coming to Adelaide for extended holiday in Oct with my DD of 3 months. DH there now.At moment am v busy with various mum & baby gps - yoga, fitness, bounce & rhyme plus social stuff with other new mums. Am wondering how will fill our time in Adelaide. Any tips on the best groups to go to, best place to meet other mums etc - I like casual, drop-in sort of stuff.

    Hi again

Sorry I dont really know that area at all I am the opposite end of town

All I can think of is googling the local library to see if they do a baby story time.

Other than that I'm a bit stumped sorry I hope some of the adelaide girls can be more helpful

I don't live near there either, although there is Jack in the Box, a play cafe on North East Road at Gilles Plains (I think) it's not too far from Broadview or maybe you could look up Playgroup Asssoc of SA. Goodluck.

    HI

I'm a north easter. Have you had a go with the yellow pages to see whats available as far as gyms etc are concerned? It will also help you establish where every is.

Thanks for replies folks. Don't really know where will be staying. Tried googling mum & baby groups but didn't really find anything. Not sure of the terminology down under. Have never heard of Jack in the box - do they do stuff with the babies or just one of those cafes with soft play for toddlers? Maybe best to wait till I get there, just stressing that DD & I will be very isolated.

you will be able to find lots of places to go - i dont know where you are at the moment but it can be hard to find things over the internet. you will prob be best contacting a local child and youth health centre which are in most suburbs.

they can maybe put you in a new parent group - though your baby may be a bit older than the others - we started at a group when DS was about 12 weeks. we had an organised group with like a midwife with advice on solids etc, and that went on for around 6 weeks i think. a year later and we still all meet up every week at one of our houses, and at kindergyms etc.

i know you say you like casual drop in things but i've mentioned it just cos it is a good way to meet other mums and you will hear of other places to go to through them.

if you don't want to join one of CYH new parent groups they should at least be able to give you info on what is going on in your area. unless it has altered in the past year or so i don't think there were any playgroup SA groups in the NE suburbs. i guess it may just be easier to wait til you get here - there are things to do and if you make the effort you won't be isolated.

let us know how you get on?

Thanks Flowerpot sounds encouraging. I am in Scotland at moment. DD will be 4 months when we get there. I will check out what you have suggested.
