Default Ideas for Self-Help Breakfast for Toddler

    Hi everyone!

I posted in the sleep/settling section about my idea of leaving breakfast out for my almost 3yo DD to eat by herself when she wakes up at an un-godly hour in the morning. But I'm quickly running out of ideas for food to give her. So far I've been leaving out things like a banana, a mandarin, bowl of dry cereal or dry weetbix (both without milk). The novelty of these has worn off and now I need some ideas!!

People in the other thread mentioned breakfast bars and yoghurt left in the fridge. Does anyone have any other ideas that I can use as well? It has to be something that can either be left out on her table all night (can be covered or wrapped if necessary) or eaten cold straight out of the fridge because she can help herself to the fridge.

    Thanks everyone!

    Naomi

sometimes i cut up strawberries and leave them in the fridge, other than that i wrap some arrowroot biscuits in a freezer bag and he enjoys them. What about leaving a little mug of milk and let her pour it in? Or would she make a big mess?

I gave you the ideas yesterday about the breakfast bar and yoghurt!

As Jaxcoop said about the nilk, I was thinking with my daughter i was going to put milk in a drink botlle, like one of the pop top ones and she can pour it in...

Sometimes i get like the tinned fruit salad and put it in a bowl in the fridge and then she gets a yoghurt and pours it on top!!

Ill be watching this thread as i want more ideas too!
Dont you just get so proud when thye get up themselves?? Theyre such big girls, arent they hehe

That's not a bad idea Jaxcoop! I could certainly give it a go. She much prefers her cereal with milk and I think she'd get a kick out of pouring it herself. The worst that could happen is that she makes a mess...oh hang on.....she does that anyway!!

    Thanks for your input!

That's right Kirbyd87, it was you!!! They were both great ideas and are both on my shopping list for this week.

A pop top for the milk!! That's brilliant. Yes, I feel like my baby's all grown up when she gets her own breakfast...sniff...sniff... I am very proud.

that's good! my little man gets himself up in the morining and always looks forward to what i have put out the bench for him, sometimes im naughty and leave something there like a lcm or a cheese and biscuit snack! But only occasionally! The only other thing i ca think of is bake some yummy fruit muffins or pancakes and butter them and put what ever topping on. You can eat these cold so she may like them too! Good luck! I will be looking back to this post too for ideas for myself

Little pikelets are a great idea, I think im going to make some for breakfast!!!

    Yum!

My daughter loves buttering her own bread etc so maybe we could get the little single serves like at motels, you can get them at woolies and she can butter them with a plastic butter knife!!

or even just dollop some butter and jam on a plate, leave it in the fridge and she can get it out in the morning and put it on her pikelets!!

Maybe thats trusting her a little too much, but i have confidence she can do it!!
