Wicking

Wicking - A term used to describe how moisture spreads through fabric. Imagine leaving the tip of a washcloth in a small puddle of water. After a short time the whole washcloth will be wet. This is wicking, and is usually used to describe how a nappy can leak if a sodden nappy comes into contact with an absorbent fabric.

okay i have copy and pasted that definition. I feel really stupid asking all these dumb questions.
The fleece should be pulled out on a pocket nappy, but if the fleece touches the singlet or the pants they will become wet??

Do you mean the polar fleece lining of a pocket nappy? Not sure why you think it should be 'pulled out'?

Also, in a pocket nappy, the moisture tends to go THROUGH the fleece and absorbs into whatever booster you have in there, so anything else touching the fleece shouldn't get wet iykwim? Er, not that anything else should be touching the fleece anyway.

It said on my instructions
"happy Heinys are designed to have the fleece around the legs sit outside the diaper... DO NOT TUCK THE FLEECE INSIDE, the outer fabric is not suppose to be against the skin or you may get wicking, the fleece will prevent this.
