Default Advice on Launceston very much Appreciated!

    Hi there,

My name is Jess and I live with my Darling Husband and gorgeous son in the super busy and fast Gold Coast. My little family desperately want to live in Launceston but we want to be well informed before we move there, can any locals give me an idea of which suburbs are cheap but pleasant to live in? Maybe you live in one! Any advice about where to rent and how much I would be looking at paying would be really helpful, online rental listings seem to be all over the place so I am having a hard time getting a clear piccie of the situations!
    Thanks so much!

If you are moving from the Gold Coast to Launceston you will find that ALL of the suburbs are cheap!!

Tasmania is a far cry cheaper from Queensland! The standard of living is also cheaper! It's a lovely place to live I hope you like it.

i agree that launceston is lovely, i was born here and after a short time away i returned to raise my family here. perhaps contacting some local real estate agents would help?
once organised this morning i can PM you a few numbers of some good ones, they could then maybe send/email you their rental listings. i'll also add my view on suburbs then too!

Hi there, thanks for your superfast replies, I have emailed about 11 realestate agencies so far but I don't entirely trust their advice! I was more wanting to get a local persons perspective on what suburbs are considered good but affordable, which ones are a bit dodgy and so forth! I have no real idea as I like it all compared to here!

Thanks again, and it reflects well on Launcestonians(?) that you didn't want to offend anyone!

why not fly down for the weekend and check em out yourself?? the best way to get a feel for a suburb is too visit it yourself at different times during the day/evening/night

make appointments in advance with the real estates, book 2 night accomodation somewhere central to your needs and Voila!!

you could leave on a friday evening and fly back on the sunday to cuddle up in bed (we've done it heaps ourselves)

I'd love to be able to do that but all the flights from here go via Melbourne so it turns into a bit of an ordeal! we have visited a couple of times and driven aroud the suburbs but there is no substitute for local knowledge!

Depends who you fly with, we travel only with VirginBlue and they do have some flights through melb, but there are direct flights available

If I was spending upwards of $250, 000.00 then I would like to see what I'm buying, be able to picture the area and nothing ever substitutes for personal 1-1 service
