    Default Advice Wanted

My husband has just been advised he will be working away for the next 3 months at least with hopefully a 10days on 4 off roster. i have a 8 year old and 2 year old and am hoping anyone else in a similar situation can give me some tips for coping.

Does anyone get help in e.g demi pair or a babysitter.

He's gone 13 hours a day M-F with a 8 hr saturday at the moment so I know I'll be ok doing everything around the house as I do now I''m just worried that I'll get lonely! I really look forward to him coming home every night so I can have some adult conversations.

I have also been known to get scared at night when on my own any tips for conquering that from anyone would be awesome.

Also that I won't be able to have some breathing space from the kids If i desperately want it, even just to go for a walk.

How have your kids handled it?

    Thanks in advance.

i have a little boy who is nearly one and im expecting again in may.

May hubby goes away for up to 9months of the year.

You need to find a great babysitter and go have some time to yourself even if it is just a couple of hours

Thanks, did you find your babysitter through an agency? Or can anyone recommend an agency in Brisbane?

I am no longer in Brisbane but had great success when we were there using Dial an Angel.

I am on day one of my Dh being away for three months overseas so will give you any tips that I develop as time goes on. My biggest tip that I keep telling myself is that I might need to ask for help occasionally from all those lovely friends who offer - I normally try and solider on without help but I think we will go insane if we do that!

I just hang for when he returns really. I get by/through the nights when he away, but 2 years in and I not sure it gets easier you just get better at coping. I havent used a babysitter - mainly cos I dont know anyone to ask here...no family or friends without babies themselves. DH and I have actually only had 5 hours together alone away from DD since she was born, once when we were in UK and my parents babysat and then on my birthday for 2 hours when a very kind friend offered. I dont actually need I suppose to have a demi pair or babysitter as I dont have anywhere to go to alone...
I always put the tv up quite loud at night and snuggle up in bed with a milky chocolate and marshmallows to stop getting scared...
Have you got family or friends who would perhaps take the kids to the park for a couple of hours if you needed a break?
My daughter doesnt know any different so I cant really advise there...
We communicate via skype (video calling on PC) as we invested in wireless internet access...which when it works is fantastic! Often the phone signal goes you see...so I actually get my adult conversation that way...
Good luck! Sure it will fly by
