    Hi there
Pre-eclampsia is a serious issue so in my opinion I think you should see someone about your concerns today.
I had pre-eclampsia and the sypmtoms I had were bad swelling of my feet, hands and face, really bad headaches and also seeing flashing lights in front of my eyes. You can also feel nauseous (but hard to tell with pregnancy!!). Also of course the high BP and the protein in the urine.
Go and get your blood presure checked and if nothing else put your mind at ease.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

What are the symptoms of pre-eclampsia? I thought they were high blood pressure and maybe excessive swelling later on but other than that I dont know. I didnt think you could have it this early on. If you're worried I guess you should get it checked out so you're not stressing.

You say that you havent been tested for a couple of weeks? What were the tests like last time you were tested? What effects do you have?

To my knowledge pre eclampsia most commonly appears in the last trimester of pregnancy. I do realise that some people have it earlier but I have never heard of anyone having it in their first trimester- not to say it doesnt occur just isnt so common. I found the PEARLS website to be a wealth of information when I was diagnosed.

As to whether you should see a Dr I guess when in doubt you are best to have it checked out.

Thank you. I will definitly get it checked out today- There are heaps of symptoms, swelling, high blood pressure, blurred vision and bad headaches being obvious ones, less obvious symptoms are pain in right side just below ribs, shoulder pain, and nausia. Pretty sure there may be a few more as well. I might just be paranoid!

Thank-you for the website. I am in the start of my second trimester now. All my bloods, urine and BP tests have been normal throughout pregnancy but heard they can change pretty quick. I have really bad pains in right side, headaches, little swelling not much yet though

If i were you I would get to the hospital and get checked asap.

not to scare you or anything but i had signs of pre eclampsia from about 19 weeks and needed close monitoring it then developed into full blown pre eclampsia at 29 weeks and I had eclamspia at 33 weeks and had to deliver my baby as she had stopped growing because my pre eclmapsia had damaged my placenta and my kidneys were failing. and i had hardly any symptoms, just some swelling and protiens in my urine.

luckily for me my baby was very small (2pound 8 ounces) but healthy and is now 11 weeks old and doing great but its definatedly something you need to get looked at as soon as you notice the symptoms.

I hope I havent worried you too much, but it is alot more common than people think to have pre eclampsia in earlier pregnancy.

I hope in your case its just a false alarm
