Default Bubs not wanting to sleep

Help! Over the last couple of days, my 3 1/2 week old bubs doesn't seem to want to sleep in his basinette during the day even though he is really tired.

He will fall asleep in my arms, so i will put him in his basinette and he'll still be dead asleep. 5 mins later waaaaaaaaaaaa....he wakes up! i get him out and he falls asleep in my arms again!!!!

it's driving me insane as i can't seem to get much done during the day. He seems fine at night though.......

It got to the point today where i layed next to him in my bed and had a snooze next to him.

Should i just let him cry himself back to sleep or is he too young? During the night when he wakes for a feed, he will fall asleep wrapped up in my arms, put him in basinette and he stays asleep. he never falls asleep on his own in the basinette.

Maybe try an old style pram (one with a bassinette type thang) during the day so you can rock him back to sleep, and also drag it around the house from room to room. ours has been just a godsend, for the first six weeks it was the only place DD would sleep aside from in our arms, and now it is still really handy and in the arvos when she's unsettled but tired and won't sleep, I can still get dinner on by taking her into the kitchen in it.

still, day sleeps do seem to be hit and miss things for a lot of bubbas. starfish is fairly unreliable about them. does he sleep in the car? that's my desperation tactic, pop her in the car and go to the nearest town <half an hour away>, that way she gets at least that much nap and it makes her nice again for a few more hours. If you live in town, going round the block a few times might do the trick. better still, get someone else to take him for a nap/drive and you can have some time to get stuff done. like sleep.
