Default alpha keri oil making it worse?

    hi

I bathe my DD every 3 days but her eczcema seems to flare up after the bath. I've heard people say alpha keri oil dries the skin but its meant for use on eczema and dry skin

Does anyone else have a problem with it? I'm switching to qv or rolled oats

The only thing that seems to help my DS (four years) is a combination of olive oil rubbed on the skin at night and chickweed ointment during the day. During high allergy times we also give a daily dose of Zyrtec, but your bub is too young, I think. QV made it worse, so did DermaVeen. You can also get a solution of olive oil and glycerine from some soap shops. It helps in the bath, but the bathtub rings are awful!!

Hi. Just thought I would add my thoughts. I used Hamilton Bath Oil and it also made Ds's eczema worse. QV worked well but as I have posted elsewhere before, I have been using Cetaphil and that is great!!! Try some Dermeeze on the bad spots before the bath (acts like a barrier) and then again within 2-3 mins after getting out of the bath from top to toe. Great stuff, greasy, and messy! Well worth the hassle though.

    Hi
Unfortunately products labelled as useful for eczema are not necessarily so, probably due to variations in each person and greed of manufacturers. If it has lanolin then I would not use it as this is a common irritant for eczema sufferers along with alcohol, fragrences and parabens.

thanks girls, I didn't know lanolin was an irritant. I used to use lanoshish (wool oil fat) on my nipples when I started breastfeeding!!

She does react when she wear wool. Now I realise why! I'll be sure to steer away from other products with lanolin in them! thanks Missie Mack!

Sounds like the dermaveen is similar to the qv kids balm I use looks like vaseline but is smoother and lets the skin breath while moisturising. I love it.

My chemist stocks cetaphil so I might give it a go if its ok for 3 month olds.

If your bub is only 3 months, what about using nothing to wash her with? Just some warm water a bit of a swish and wipe and then moisturise after. I never used anything on my little guys until they were about 18 months.
