    Default Rbwh

Hi, I am due early December and am starting to feel a bit anxious about the labour.. I am having bub at RBWH but I couldnt get into the birthing centre. I have tried to ask questions of the midwives and the ob about what will happen in the labour but I feel like I am being brushed off. Things I want to know are what I think should be simple things like can I move around during the labour and can I sit under the shower on a fit ball if I think it will help but I am not getting any answers. PLZ if anyone has had recent experience at RBWH could you enlighten me a little?? it would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I had a fantastic birth at the RBWH - I'm sorry you're not having the best prenatal experience.

    Yes! You can move around!
Yes! You can use a fit ball!
Yes! You can sit until the shower!

They have HEAPS of stuff there, I recommend going on a tour (you can book in) so see what they have. The midwife I had encouraged me to be on my hands and knees, in fact she encouraged me to be in the shower however Cobes came to quick and I didn't get off the bed! They were just fantastic!!

i felt like that a little while ago, it seems that if you fit into the box you dont get any knowledge. Have you had your ante natal classes yet. having them with a tour of the hospy was great for me and dh. Also i did/do yoga baby classes. very good - it was the first time i had been in a room of just preggy women. do the hospy do excerise classes they are good too.
    good luck with things

I would suggest asking them about their birthing classes etc and what they have to offer at your next visit, highly recommend it.

similar to what i was gonna say
they should tell u all that stuff at the birthing classes, book in , well worth it
also if you are anxious you could ask the receptionist if you can book an extra appt. with the middie to answer some of your questions, tell them u have questions its not just for a routine appt.??
    know what u mean though,
i've been asking things the whole time and feel like they r brushing me off,
at the start they said no need to worry yet,
and now that i'm 36 almost 37 wks they are still brushing me off!!!
when do they think i should know, after the birth, lol!!!!
the birthing classes helped a lot anyway and you can ask the middie holding it as many questions as you want!
    goodluck!

just keep pushing keep asking the questions even mention it to the ladies at the desk. one thing i found great is if you get into the midwife program there are two pheonix and pegasis i am in pegasis and you deal with the same midwifes threw you appointments birth suit and maternity ward so hopefullt you will have at least spoken to one of them. when i had dd i had no troubles with them and really happy to have gotten into the program this time.

I had a bub 7 weeks ago and did all the above things.
You are allowed under the shower as long as you like too.

Thanks ladies! I am booked in with the Pegasus midwifery team, I have an appt on Friday morning and have birth classes starting late October so I am sure I will be able to find out more information during the rest of the pregnancy. I have spent the morning doing my Birth Plan/Preferences so I will take it with me on Friday to get a dialogue going.. My friend in WA had her baby on Monday by emergency c-sect after coming close to dying from just contracted pre-eclampsia at 35 weeks and now I am feeling terrified after being very calm and cool about the whole child birth thing previously..

just thought of anoher idea to....
if it ends up u can't get the answers you want u could always go to a gp the specialises in pregnancy and ask them all your questions, i'm sure you'll be fine though
