Default Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease!!!

I am going to have my c-section tomorrow, 38 weeks + 6 days!

Our 2 and a half years old toddler has been unwell. He had a mild temperature on Saturday night but it went down the next morning. But yesterday he complaint about the pain in his mouth and refused to eat at meals time. Today I found a red dots on his buttock! They are not itchy or sore!

I don't think he is very ill. I have booked an appointment for him to see a GP on Saturday!

    The question is:
1/ Will my new born in the bump get it?
2/ How much does it affect my pregnancy?

    Thanks!

I was pregnant (actually still am LOL) when my DD had HFM disease and went to the doc about it - the actual risk to a pregnant woman is low mainly because you should have had some sort of immunity to it by now.

Just make sure you practice good hygiene when you change their nappy because a lot of the bacteria is in the faeces and can be spread from contact (that is if your child is still in nappies - might not be)

I was fine and I co-slept and looked after my sick daughter through it all. Don't remember ever having the HFM as a child but the doc says when I was a child they probably didn't call it that and just brushed it off as a common cold.

does ds have ulsers all through his mouth???
or just the one mark on his bottom and a pain in the mth??
it might not be hand foot and mouth,
the doc does a simple swab test to check what it is, it could just be a viral infection.
if not once bub is born make sure you keep bub and ds separated, hand foot and mouth is extremely contagious in children,
however it is highly unlikely for an adult to get it.
in early pregnancy contact with hand foot and mouth can cause birth defects and miscarriages,
but i don't think it has that much of an affect later in pregnancy once bubs organs are matured and he/ she is fully developed.
    but not 100% sure??

hope it all works out ok

as far as i know its very uncommon for adults to catch it. its not as bad as it sounds i think most people think of it as the one animals get but its totally different. if he hasn't got blisters on his hands and feet then its prob not HFM. the only thing docters will tell you to do is give him panadol.

Just me and my lil girl!

DD had it a few months ago they should have like litte blisters on the bottoms of there feet, the palms of there hands and in there mouth not usually anywhere else that why it has it's name. Not much you can do DD's lasted about 3 days then they popped and went to scabs. It's not a disease it's just a viral infection and has nothing to do with the one animals get totally different.
