    Hi kea5arge,

Having tattoos does not stop you from becoming an egg donor.

Generally, the clinics have a policy which states that you cannot have had the tattoo(s) in the last 12 months.

This is to ensure that you haven't picked up any nasties from the tattooist that take some time to show in your blood such as HIV etc.

Good on you for wanting to become a donor. I am sure that you will make a couple very happy.

I am new to BH so its great to find this section!

I have agreed to become an egg donor for a friend of mine who is unable to have children and have exhausted IVF treatments.

They are trying to get the money together for the procedure but it is so expensive!! I am hoping they can do it soon because I really really want to help them have a child

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for advice

    Hello

I may be interested in donating eggs, but there are a few things which may prevent it, and I would like your opinion about it...
    - I am not Australian, would that interest someone?
    - I am a healthy round lady, I love chocolate and ice-cream, I am 100kg and never on a diet ; I breastfeed my children so I try to have a healthy diet (but not a slimming diet!). My children are quite chubby too, I guess there is a bit of genetics and a lot of good french cooking at home. Would such a donor interest someone?
    - I have tried to look on internet the kind of process it involves, and I am not sure if these websites are "companies" making money out of it, or just information websites. I don't want to sell my eggs. Is there some kind of "public" service with egg-donation? Like you go and see your GP, and then a specialist, and then the hospital etc, but you don't pay people who have a financial interest in that egg-donation?
Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hi
There, I just read your post I would like to give my opinion that is mean it is not neccesary every one reckon with my opinion ,any way what you thinking to do, to helpe someone else to have a baby by donating your egg it is amazing !!!! so regarding you are not Australian I think nothing wrong with that as long as if you living in Australia , about your weight it is all depending on your height and blood test to see if your weight affecting your fertility ,sure your age very important in this case I know so many ladies even they are over weight but they are still good donor! I know that from friend around .Also in Australia we all know it is illegal to pay for egg donor ,I mean to pay for there egg ...at the same time nothing cost to donor all expenses regarding to the procedure will be coverd ,about ''public '' service yes you can go through all Info with any counseor at any fertility clink so you can get all Info that you need for your step ...
I wish you a very good luck what ever step that you want to take

In Australia only altruistic egg donation is allowed so only medical expenses can be reimbursed- no payment for eggs. Some IVF services will keep a list of women wanting to help by donating but most women who are thinking of donating contact people they might want to help on websites like this or by replying to adverts in the Child magazines. Once a donor gets to know her recipient parents better and everyone is happy to proceed it's happiness all around!

PS there is good advice on how to contact potential parents and what to think about for potential donors in this forum
