    Default What would you Prefer?

Do you feel more comfortable with a health professional with or without a uniform?

As some of you know I'm training to become a Doula and Childbirth Educator. I want to make my future clients feel as comfortable as possible, and the above question was posed to me, so of course I will ask my fellow Bubhubbers who always give me great advice.

Without. But I've never had a problem with nurses or midwives in uniform. Someone like a doula should just be herself IMO.

Thats tricky speaking from my thoughts as seeing you becomming a doula i would prefer smart casual, similiar to hospitals. I guess i would like to see a professional approach but not too over the top, comfy Perhaps something like a casual polo shirt with dress pants?

As a doula, I think you should dress professionally but not in uniform. You are meant to be a confidante and a friend, someone to be trusted with everything, big or small. I would find a uniform in that sort of situation too confronting, too professional, too stand-off-ish.

You will find that most women seeking a doula are doing so because they prefer a more natural approach to childbirth - so a uniform may come accross as too clinical IYKWIM.

I would maybe just set yourself a casual uniform - ie black bottoms, neat shirt. That way you look professional - but not clinical.
