Toddlers standing in prams or trolleys

Ally, maybe you could strap a really powerful magnet to him and that way he'd have no choice but to stay with the trolley! (I'm kidding - obviously! )

I really feel for you - lifting my DD in and out of the seat when pregnant (or with DS in the sling) left me in serious pain for the rest of the day. I only didn't put her in the trolley because I knew I was going to fill it to the top with junk!

I cannot believe the number of kids I have seen lately standing up in a trolley or in the pram backwards holding on

I really do not understand why anyone would do this. It makes me cringe and I just want to go over and ask WHY???? Why would you do this?

Can anyone tell me??

I haven't read any of the posts to this thread yet (will go and read them now) but in response to the OP I have to say that I agree - IMO leaving children standing up in trolleys and prams is dangerous; and borderline irresponsible.

Too many times I've seen prams and trolleys tip over - I'd hate to think what damage that hard concrete/tiled shopping centre floor could do to a young child's developing skull...

I am another of THOSE mothers that lets her kids go in the trolley. My kids always have to sit if they are in the trolley. If I only have DD, sometimes she will get into the seat, but generally makes it very difficult for me to get her in (straightens he legs so I can't get them in). I am not always satisified with her being in there because she takes off the seat-belt and tries to stand.

I guess that makes sense Ally - DD is big too, and I'm short... so I understand the struggle to get a heavy baby in there... so it must be even more difficult with a preggie belly.

So you do have a point.

It still bugs me to see it though. If I saw someone in similar circumstances to you, I would probably be more sympathetic to the issue, and understand.

Sometimes though, I see tiny babies that can barely stand getting pushed around. Not even grocery shopping... just wandering around the supermarket in a trolley. They kept swaying and falling over and the mother never even notices (or at least, if she does, doesn't seem to care).

THAT really really bugs me.

I have read all posts. Thank you for the ones that replied without judging me for asking a simple question. I do understand why some people do it. Its not so much the trolley thing. Or sitting in it. Nothing wrong with that. But, ok, im going to stop.

I really feel that people only need to defend themselves when/if they are being attacked. I didnt attack anyone.

People ask questions all the time. Why do you bottlefeed? Why do you co-sleep? Please dont automatically shoot someone down for asking a question.
