A different type of baby shower

Well. All my plans have gone down the drain. My dh doesnt want to have a joint baby shower/gathering/BBQ i had been planning on doing any more so i have to come up with something else

I dont think i want to have a shower with heaps of games etc. I think i just want to go out for a nice lunch with my girly friends and family. We have nothing in our town that does the high tea things (even though this would have been perfect), so it will have to be a meal.

I also dont want to have to spend extra money on food and prizes for games and all that stuff as money is a bit tight atm, so i thought a nice time out would be best. I will give favors instead of doing games with prizes. Does that sound any good?

Oh another thing, how do you word the invites to a baby shower, when your not really having a 'baby shower' .... if u get me

OK one last thing lol, is it rude to ask people to pay for their meals? I want to have a wishing well (as its my second pregnancy and we have pretty much everything) but i feel like its asking too much having my guests pay for thier meals and having a wishing well too, even though i know 90% of the people invited will bring a gift.

I don't think it's rude to ask people to pay for their meals. Just make sure you pick a place that is cheap iykwim?

Do you have a small marquee or do you know someone who you could borrow one from?
You could decorate it with baby colours and other things you can print off the internet baby rattle shapes.
This is what we did to save money.

You could just make a cute little area to sit in and ask everyone to bring a plate of something.

Names, "Welcoming tea party".
"Baby tea party"...

How about a high tea but at your home. Get everyone to bring a plate of cute speshy finger foods and ave different flavoured teas to serve.

Word the invite as...come celebrate with me etc.

Thats what I'm doing...high tea at home

Theres plenty of great places that do high teas, but I want intimate and I've got a great place for entertaining
