    Thumbs down Plumber being nasty

A week or so ago I tried to attach my hot water to a sink. I caused a leak so I had a plumber come out to try find it. he couldn't find a leak so I asked him to check and tighten (if needed) each joint.
SInce then there has been a leak, just a bit, and I thought it was from the washing machine so I waited till DH was free on the weekend to move to tighten the pipes.

Anyway, leak continued, so I called the plumber.
He has just turned up, found the leak (on one of the joints I asked him to tighten) and said he has to charge me for another visit. I said no. He is now outside calling his boss, but has said that unless they make him, he is leaving without fixing it.

I have 3 plasterboard walls and 2 cupboards dripping wet and starting to smell

Thats not fair of him to do that. Can you talk to his boss yourself?

yip ring up the boss and talk to him yourself

that is just not right, if you asked him to do something the first time and he never did it, then its his problem, he can't charge you twice

If you asked him in the first visit to tighten it and he said he did so .. than it is under warranty. Do not let him to make money on you just because you are softie .. clearly he can see that! Do not give him any money before you talk to his boss and tell him your side of the story as well.

I went outside to see what was taking so long (Kes screaming for a feed) and the guy has nicked off!
I rang his work and the receptionist said "Yes, apparently the sink is attached illegally to the wall so he can't fix it, he told you he was leaving".
I told her that he was happy to work on my 'illegal' sink when he thought I was paying and she just said "Oh" and that she'll talk to the boss.
I'm so upset, Kes is screaming like mad, I've called my brother who is in construction, he'll know about the legalities and stuff, he asked for their number so I think he'll call them. I'm too upset to speak to them at the moment, though I did tell them I never want that particular plumber anywhere near my property ever again.

a leak on something he tightened? so effectively he caused it to worsen. What a tool!

You should threaten to sue for damages and see where that gets you (if your brother doesn't get somewhere with them) becuase their work caused worse damage.

I'm a big wuss to when it comes to confrontation about these sorts of things I normally get my DH onto them if I have issues

Have some cos I'm sure you need them.
I hope it gets sorted out quickly for you!

btw I think the plumber is the wuss seeing as he didn't want to fix something which was his own fault and then took off without saying anything.
There once was an awesome man who met an awesome girl, they fell in love, got married, had an awesome boy, 3 awesome girls and lived awesomely ever after in the most Awesome place on Earth.

Thank you so much Antlmummy, I did need those hugs!
My brother rang them and really let them know what he thought of their man running off on me, apparently they then admitted how bad it all was, and that they would actually get the boss to call me tomorrow. Seems they weren't going to bother when it was just me talking to them
The only good thing: it seems it wasn't my work which caused the leak, it was his! Kind of funny, but I take a lot of comfort in that.
My bro capped off the hot water to that sink, so I'm back to no water there, but a small price to pay for not having nightmares of waking up in my own little Venice...
