    Default Hmmmmmm........???????

Okay ..... I know this must be common coz I've seen threads around but just cant be bothered looking for them.....

For the past few days my nipples have been quite tender & a bit itchy. I'm guessing it must be a bit of thrush?
So what do I do to fix it??? Dont like it much.....

    Thanks in advance girls...

I just posted this in the General health area for someone that is suffering recuring bouts of Vag Thrush. If you have no luck with the usual creams Canestan or Daktarin ect applied topically to your nipple and to babies mouth ( if using dummies and teats they will have to be sterilised after each use or disposable). Then taking the virgin coconut oil is very helpful. Its available at healthfood stores. My little sister has been batteling Thrush through her 6 months of Breastfeeding due to her Gestational Diabeties and has found that this is the only thing the got rid of the thrush altogether. Low GI diet also goes with the oil and cut out sugar.

hope you find something to help

    Default Itchy like crazy

Oh my god. I had nipple thrush as well, and dosent the itching just drive you mad, I used the thrush drops (Nilstat) on my nipples before I fed my baby and then gave her some in her mouth after the feed.

The doctor told me to use the canestan and as fine if she got it in her mouth but I didnt like the idea of that.

As a veteran of nipple thrush (lucky me ) I can recommend using the antifungal cream on your skin but you need to get a special oral gel if Ella has it in her mouth. It can also contaminate nappies etc (ie coming out the other end ) so it's a good idea to use antifungal stuff in your wash and I think a bit of sunshine wouldn't do any harm. Personally I'd treat it with or without discharge as it takes a little while to respond, and the treatment doesn't do any harm. I also never got discharge, but had a pretty nasty case. Also be on the alert for other fungal infections (eg athlete's foot and vaginal thrush) as they can cross contaminate each other (if that makes sense!). Good luck with it!

Was dreading getting thrush but I hear it's quite common. How do I tell if Ella has it?

White spots in her mouth or on her tounge, the area around it might be a little more red than the rest of her mouth. RED fanny and bum area.
