Hello Ladies
So I know it might sound a little skeptical - but I have tried this on all of my mum-to-be friends and it works 100% for us - so just want to take it further and see how accurate is this:
to predict the gender of your baby you take:
Mothers age at conception + the month of your missed period+ 3
If result is an even number - baby will be a girl
If result is an odd number - baby will be a boy

ie:
I was 21 when we conceived + 7(missed my period in July) + 3 = 31 - odd - boy - and we did have a boy the following March :)

Very interesting to see how you go !

Last week I noticed I had swelling on my bottom right hand side gum, it didn't hurt just looked not right. I went to the dentist and he said my wisdom tooth is coming through and it was infected. He said it needs to come out, but since I was only 6 weeks pregnant he couldn't do anything about yet. Maybe in the 2nd trimester, but better off once I had the baby.

Well I just finished the antibiotics 2 days ago, and today I have woken up in agony from the other side!!! It is all swollen and my throat is sore. I can see a tiny bit of tooth coming through. I am freaking out that I have another infection! Is it possible after just finishing antibiotics?

I am so scared my baby will die if I have to take more. I will be calling the dentist in the morning but I am so upset. Could it just be swollen and sore cos it is just breaking through the gum, or is it more than likely another infection? I can't close my mouth all the way cos I can feel my top teeth hitting the swelling :(

So sad this is happening while I am pregnant!!!

Hi ladies

Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced pain/discomfort around 22 weeks when sleeping. I don't know if I'm just stretching at the moment or whether when i lay on my left side my little miss ends up laying on a particular organ but it's quite painful and preventing me from sleeping (i do also have some discomfort during the day but not as intense most days). I also am having back pain when laying on my back and left side It feels like my lower back is not supported when laying on my back or my side> i'm usually a bit of a dog leg sleeper but this has become impossible as my belly is just a bit too big and she ends up kicking that area as it must bother her. I've tried a full length pillow under my belly and between my legs and while that supports my belly it makes my back worse as the pillow itself is quite high, but even a lower pillow under my belly is offering no support for my lower back.

Has anyone experienced similar pain/discomfort and has any tips or body pillows that will offer support? I'm at a bit of a loss here and my poor husband is having to endure the tossing/turning and frustration which impacts his sleep.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Good evening everyone. I'm new here and don't know if I posted in the right spot but basically I need an outsiders opinion. I have 2 year old daughter and am currently 16 weeks pregnant. Hubby and I purchased a house about 10months ago and have been renovating as we go. I'm not 100%happy with our house as we rushed to get it and now I'm thinking it was a bad decision to ever move out of my parents house. Lately I have been having feelings of depression and the other night my hubby and mum discussed us moving back in with them and renting out the house we worked so hard to get, so that mum can help out with my daughter and the new baby as well as us saving money for a house closer to them. On paper moving back makes so much sense because it would cut our travel time to work by over half and save us so much money on petrol and bills but I'm so confused over the decision. I feel like if we move back in with them were going backwards instead of moving forward as our own family. Sorry for the long post I just need someone's opinion who isn't scared of making me cry lol
thank you:p

Hi hubbers! I've been having mild contractions every night for the past 5 nights but just when they seem to be going somewhere they stop until the next night! I'm 4-5 cm dilated without any major pain at all so I should think myself lucky but I'm so over the on again off again labour and just want this baby out! Any tips to get things moving apart from the usual recommendations of walking, bouncing, dtd etc?

Also, if this happened to you, how long was it until your active labour began? OB says I'm one good contraction away from bursting my waters but I just need to have that good contraction. I'm still 3 weeks away from my due date so we have decided not to intervene just yet and let things happen naturally but I'm becoming increasingly frustrated!

TIA :)

Hi all

We r currently TTC no 3.
We're in sydney at the moment but definitely moving to Perth at the years end.
Ds1 has been enrolled in 4yo kinder over there so he needs to start school late Jan.

If I fall pg, wwyd about ante natal care?

I'd like to go private, I'm 37 and I'd like a little more monitoring due to age.

But say I fall pg now (currently doing the 2 week wait), the baby would be born in Feb. So I need to give birth in Perth as ds will be in kinder,

Does anyone know if it's possible to do my first 6 months of care in sydney with an OB (or even shared care with a midwife or Gp), and then have say 2 months + give birth in a different state?

And I guess to any perth girls, do u know of any OBs that would allow such an arrangement?
We'll be living near Stirling/karrinyup, from what I've read the hospital at Osborne Park isn't that great sobi was thinking to go to St John of God at Subi.

Thanks for reading!

How often does your baby feed during the night?

My baby is 12 days old, since bringing her home we have not established what her night feeds are truly like. I guess it's different every night.

Two nights ago I was at the doctor so she had to have a formula bottle, she took 100ml and didn't wake for nine hours, I was so worried I took her for a check up and she was fine.

Last night, she went down at 830, woke at 1 and didn't want to go back to sleep for her whole night.

Now tonight she had a good feed between 8 and 9, then a little awake time then a short 5 minute feed around 940, by 10pm she was settled and asleep however didn't wake until 3 for a feed. So some 7 hours of sleep.

Just wanted to hear other people's night feed routines?

I am pg with number 3. Had 2 drug free natural births already, and I swear I felt every single contraction and push that the two women on the show felt.
So now I am freaking out that in approximately 27 weeks... I have to do it again. I think I'm having palpitations thinking too much.
I just want to cry. Don't get me wrong, i want this baby just as much as my current bubs, but wah.

Hello Everyone

My name is Jess and I am a Registered Nurse and currently completing my Midwifery Studies in the Sunshine Coast.

As part of my course I need to find willing mummies who are pregnant who would be interested in having a midwifery student follow their pregnancy. It is called the CONNECT Program and is run in conjunction with my university (USC) and involves me attending antenatal appointments with you, providing you with support and information, be with you at the time of your birth if you wish and to visit you after your baby is born.

I understand that not all women would like a midwifery student to follow their pregnancy but at the same time I think it's great as you will have one constant person with you throughout your pregnancy until the time of birth.

If anyone is interested or know of anyone that would be interested in the Sunshine Coast area then please email me and we can discuss it further and I can give you more information.

Regards,

I had an emergency Caesar after 20 hour labour and suffered a nearly 4 litre PPH and had to have a balloon inserted to save my life and then had it taken out the following day. I had 8 transfusions and spent 4 days in icu. Thankfully she was fine.

However I still haven't stopped bleeding, not one day. Having a D & C this week and an IUD inserted in the hope it will help.

She was my second baby. First was also Caesar and I stopped bleeding after 12 weeks. They are 16 months apart.

Has anyone else had similar problems? I am terrified to go back to theatre next week but so over the bleeding. I am so tired now and back on iron. Just want it to be over.

Thanks.

I was wondering how if would effect my new born if i gave my ex boyfriend custody? Will she struggle with out me around very often?

I am due in August with a baby girl however my boyfriend broke up with me over a week ago and i was completely reliant on him and now i don't know what to do. When i found out i was pregnant he promised he wouldn't break up with me and everything would work out but obviously that isn't the case now. If i kept my baby once she was born i would have no where to live - i currently live with my mum and her partner but my room is tiny and they are nurses who work 12 hour shifts and wouldn't cope with a crying baby messing up their sleeping all the time. Plus my mums partner smokes a lot of weed and the house stinks and is no place for a new born. Another problem is the car i have is only a 2 seater and i can't have a baby capsule in it and a pram doesn't fit in the boot anyway. Also i have been working for my ex up until now so have no income and wouldn't be able to support us anyway.

The only option i can see at the moment is giving my ex our baby. I physically can't look after her even if i wanted to. This isn't fair because he left me but there is nothing i can do about it :( I am 22 and this wasn't a planned pregnancy but i honestly thought everything was going to work out.

Hey guys, this is my first post- I don't know if I am in the right spot to post this topic so I apologise...
I am almost 31 years old, so as far as my 'biological clock' is concerned, I am not too bad. I have two daughters, aged 4 and almost 2- both concieved naturally.
I am at a crossroads currently where I desperately want another baby but I am in the midst of a degree which I will be finished (so long as I am disciplined) by early 2015 (I will be 32 turning 33).
The degree I am doing requires me to do 45 days of placements mid next year - at present this is totally possible because both kids are in childcare. Having a baby would make this extremely challenging to say the least!
All logic points to waiting and finishing the degree but I am impatient and somewhat afraid that the longer I wait the harder it will be to concieve.
Am I being paranoid? What would you guys do?
My husband will go along with whatever I want so he is no help in the decision making

Just wanted some other people's opinions. This will be my first baby so I really don't know what to expect.

We will be having bub at a birth centre (if all goes according to plan) so we will hopefully leave 4 hours after birth. I suspect that being home early might make certain people think it is ok to visit  but I don't think I will want people on the first day, I imagine we will all be exhausted.

I have read that breastfed bubs can be pretty much on the boob all the time until mum's milk comes in, so I kind of think it will be pointless to have too many visitors in those first few days because they will all be wanting to hold bub and that won't be possible if he's constantly attached to my boob...also I don't think I'll be too comfortable feeding in front of all DF's family when I'm still trying to get the hang of what to do.

So, would it be better to make everyone wait until my milk has come in so I'm not just constantly feeding? Or does anyone have any other advice about visitors that might be useful?

I have been stabbing pain since week 20 now in my upper abdomen and top of my back and have been asking the obs to help but they just kept telling me i must have a bladder infection and sending me for tests every fortnight which all proved that i don't have an infection, till finally 1 week ago i got sent for an organ scan and it revealed that i have inflamed gallstones and that is why but just pushed me out the door.

I am in so much pain, i can't walk for longer than 5 mins without wanting to scream in pain and becoming light headed and everything going black and wanting to faint, that i feel confined to my house.

Yet in the past since i see a different ob each week in my high risk clinic some would give me panadole fort which doesn't help and then the next week the next ob tells me i am not allowed to have it and wont give me it.

I am 37 weeks 2 days now and i am becoming depressed that i broke down today in uncontrollable tears in front of them when they didn't care again, that the doctor said to me "the pain will stop once she is born but that there is no way they will ever induce me, just because i am in pain" and they then pre-scripped me a couple days supply of morphine tablets and told me to go back to my GP for more.

I can't believe how un-helpful they are, i have been in pain for 17 weeks now and i get yes it's 3 weeks till my due date but it is really hard to hear that the only way it will stop is if she is born and i am now full term and they wont even help close to my due so i don't have to go over it.

I don't want to take morphine, i don't want to drug me and my baby. I can't take this much longer and i just want my body to go into labor so bad but since this is my first pregnancy i don't have faith that will happen by my due date.

Did anyone on here ever get inflamed gallstones and pain while pregnant?, how did you cope with it?, and did your hospital help you at all?

I am just wondering if this is just my care team or this is how pregnant women get treated when having gallstones.
