I met with my OB today and he advised me as a private patient I have the right to elect to have a particular Anaesthetist attend my C-section if I wish (and I thought the hardest part was choosing an OB! ;)) I hadn't really given this any thought before today but wondered if others had researched options or did you go with OB's recommendation/whoever was available at the time?

I have also just become aware of the different methods used by different practitioners i.e. combined epi/ spinal vs spinal alone and that some of the practitioners on the list OB gave me will leave the epi in for additional pain relief after the surgery. Would be really interested in anybody's experiences with these options. Thanks! :)

Hi guys, so i have just found out I am pregnant (due 26/12/2013) and its early days but I want to know if anyone has any recommendations for an obstetrician that is open to elective caesareans.

I am not a very assertive person and always find it hard to explain the reasons behind my choice, so would like to know if any one has had experience with a Dr that did not try to change their mind (apart from discussing pros and cons). It is at a hard time of the year so i got a feeling it will be difficult to find a willing obstetrician in the first place.

I live in Newtown NSW within walking distance to RPA, but I have had a few close friends of mine recently that have given birth there and am not totally impresses with the rooms. I am leaning towards RNSP hospital as i have visited the rooms there and they were beautiful.
The cost does not bother us at all as well.
Any help will be much appreciated
